Pretty much.

And again, in terms of the Kane trade, Armia and Roslovic are two middle six pieces this team would absolutely benefit from.

The big issue was Kane was always a short term add. He wasn’t signing here as a pending UFA

- sbroads24

Imo, armia turned in to a good 3rd liner, and will continue as such as long as he stays relatively motivated...as for roslovic?...i don't understand the love for a guy that looks like a good 4th liner

There comes a time with every team when it’s time to say “sh!t or get off the pot”
To put it bluntly next year is a big year for prospects to sink or swim.
What comes to mind is Ullmark is either a number one or time to go. Casey is either a second line Center or bye bye. Tage has one last chance or he’s done and it’s time to see if there is a surplus of NHL defence on this team or is it a myth.

He’s good. Problem is he’s always going be behind the top 6 the Jets have.

He has 23 5 on 5 points which would be more than anyone but Eichel and Reinhart on the Sabres. Two more than Johansson

He’s a good third liner as well

I'd trade him while he's still valuable. If he's a piece to get an actual 2C, then there's no problem. Even if he becomes good.

If Sean Monahan is truly available, you use Mittelstadt, Montour, and additional pieces to get him from Calgary, as that would really set the team up for next year and beyond.

You’re right about trading from a high point and that would be his AHL development. If they start him in the NHL next year and he flops his value will drop as fast as my investments.

I agree with the premise here, but not the specifics.
I'd give Tage and Mitts both another year in the AHL to bring their game along to NHL-ready quality. Both were badly mishandled from the start and were just not. Early close enough. I have my doubts especially with Tage, but I'd still give them one more season to develop there.
Ullmark is building towards being pretty decent, and he is still young.

So yes, there is a time, just not there yet IMO.

If the Evolving Wild Contract Projetions are realistic, I have a problem with many of them that I have heard about so far. Sam 8x$9m...is laughable...bye, bye. Larsson 3x$2.5m, not so much. Olofsson 5x$.x is good though.
Does anyone have a copy of it? Please post if so.

My 5 moves as GM:
Trades
1) Reinhart(RW), Johansson(LW) & Hutton(G) for Strome(C) & Connor Murphy(RhD)
2) Montour(RhD) for Josh Anderson(RW)
3) Ristolainen(RhD) & Larsson for Bonino(C) & 2021-2nd

Draft
Stutzle (C) or Byfield (C)

UFA Signings
4) Namestnikov as RW
5) Aaron Dell (G)

Updated Roster
Skinner - Eichel - Namestnikov
Kahun - Strome - Cozens
Olofsson - Bonino - Anderson
Asplund - Lazar - Okposso

Dahlin - Murphy
McCabe - Joker
Pilut - Miller
Borgen(R) and Gilmour (L)

Ullmark
Dell

IMO that is a playoff team.
It also has built-in injury protection as there are numerous players who can play up and down the lineup as well as switch sides/positions in Namestnikov, Bonino, Lazar, Kahun, Cozens, Anderson etc. It isn't the final step, but it allows younger players 1 more year to develop (Mitts, Tage, Stutzle) while introducing others into fulltime rolls.

- IonSabres

Interesting lineup.

You are trading Larsson's...rights to Nashville in that deal for Bonino, as he's a pending UFA?

The deal with the Blackhawks would be taking back $14M in salary for the trio of Reinhart (estimated $7M per on his new deal), the $4.5M next season for Johansson, and the $2.75M next season for Hutton.

In return, they would be sending the Sabres back $3.85M for Murphy (don't know enough about him as a player, and a guess of $4.5M for Strome, so they would be plus roughly $6M in cap hit in that deal.

I doubt they would take on that kind of added hit, even with the deal basically being Reinhart for Strome and Murphy long term.

Still, fun to review.

Montour, Mitts and maybe a prospect should be able to get something pretty sweet

Wish I did as it is behind a small pay wall.

This article: https://www.diebytheblade...-ristolainen-cirelli-fast

Used the following Evolving Wild projections for Olofsson and Reinhart:

Reinhart 5 years @ $7M per
Olofsson 4 years @ $5M per
Kahun 2 years @ $2.9M per

“ Brandon Montour suffered the worst of the big five, essentially going from a potential Rasmus Ristolainen replacement to “should they even qualify him?” status”

As much as he’s probably just not as good as we’d hoped, I think his partner/playing off hand has without a doubt hurt him.

He’s a serviceable player still IMO

- sbroads24

Montour sucked on the left side. On the right. He was pretty good

I am assuming the Nhl will be basically done or not make up all its revenue. I highly doubt the salary cap goes up.

So I think those are pretty close. Salary wise

I like his overall attitude, for whatever that is worth, as he was quoted earlier in the season when they had him playing forward and LHD as saying the position doesn't matter, the player should be able to perform no matter what.

Even if he didn't like being messed around positionally, that was the right thing to say.

The cap limit used for those projections is $82M, which is only half a million higher than this current season's cap limit.

Roslovic is an average 3rd line winger
Idk why ppl seem to be infatuated with the guy??
I constantly see posts on capfriendly trading for him

This might just be the most impressive article I have seen on here about the Sabres! That is simply great stuff right there and it articulates what most of the fans sensed, but had nothing to substantiate their opinions. Rock on, thank you!!

the highlight of the article is offer sheeting cirelli, giving up our first and 3rd round pick in 2021

we do not have a third round pick in 2021, it went to rangers for vesey

"The team submitting the offer sheet has to have all of the required compensation picks, and they have to be their own picks. They have to be picks for the next draft (so 2020) unless they are required to have two picks of the same round. Then they can have two of the next three year’s picks to offer."

Not sure why anyone thinks he earned 5 million. That’s a second contract
