Watching Hasek made me happy, sad, and excited all at the same time. Sucks we couldn't win the big one with that guy. He really was THE best player in hockey for a good 5 years. Buffaluck. |

IMO he was the greatest sabre ever
I know people will say Perreault, Mogilny, Lafontaine
Dom was the Wayne Gretzky of goalies in his prime |

I feel like Miller was under appreciated here due to how good Hasek was and how high the bar was set in terms of goaltending standards here in Buffalo.
I think it would be similar to whomever starts at QB for the Patriots now that Brady is gone. Even if that said player is an average to above average starter in the league that fan base has high standards and expectations. |

I think Miller gets more praise then he deserves due to longevity as a sabre
2/3 of 1 season he was the best goalie in the league
every other year, somewhere in the 12 to 20 range
he was bob sauve with a national commercial

they are in great shape
I'd like them to use some of that money to extend a player or 2 - homiedclown
My Buddy says they are working on a White extension, a 5 yr deal, says could be 18 mill a year. |

Miller was above average but not "great". He had one really good year, the rest of the time he was adequate but far from great. |

Would be smart to do that now, cause 2 years from now that AAV would be $20M+ |

The notion that Hasek wasn't the best player to play in a Buffalo Sabres uniform is laughable.
With all due respect to Gilbert Perrault, Hasek did things no human being should be capable of let alone a hockey player. |

Yeah would be cause I think next year it could be 20+ the way salaries are rising. Especially if he has another pro bowl year or is named all-pro. |

As much as I want a new GM to handle this important offseason, the article and a couple comments were pretty off-base IMO. |

As far as I can tell, the premise is that Botterill makes bad and inexplicable trades. That seems fair to me
Hell, the Sabres trading for Miller doesnt make any sense, so trading him away wouldn't shock me either. Probably for a 4th and then he'll get flipped to the Senators for a 2nd |

The Trade
To Buffalo: Mike Reilly, Filip Chlapik
To Ottawa: Colin Miller |

Trading for Miller made complete sense if they made the obvious other move, but Botterill flat out refused to, which is mind numbing. |

When you trade a 2nd and a 5th for a guy to sit in the press box most of the year, you deserve to have the Sens blogger call you a moron |

Lol, now why would you say some team would flip a traded player for more than they gave up.
I'm on record for wanting a new GM as I don't trust him to make the right moves this offseason, which will impact the team for many seasons.
He has a mixed bag in terms of trades...
ROR - Bad
Kane - less than good, not bad yet though
Miller - decent, the coach sitting him in favor of Bogo after the trade request was very bad
Montour - decent
Joker - fabulous
Skinner - stellar, the contract was piss poor
Kahun - fabulous
Frolik - bad
Simmonds - meh to poor
Not going further back than that - most were meh |
