This is very much a mediocre team without great goaltending, I’m not sure trading established players for picks is a great idea when you’ve finally made some progress on the draft floor and with a good trade in acquiring Miller.
- LeftCoaster

As I said to Vintsy some people view this team as a leaky boat and others view it as a speedboat being constructed.

The funny part is you guys look at Jake as building block and I look at him as a piece that can't find a spot (which is totally different than my analogy).

Outstanding track.

Heavy. As Carsonagenic mentioned, and I agree, their best album.

Too bad Benning has so many bad contracts on the books from reaching and covering his ass all at the same time because keeping both would 100% make the club better.
- LeftCoaster

Half the league has bad contracts. Look at Calgary they went through the same summer we did. I hate the bad contracts as much as the next guy but I am still constructing business as usual if I am Benning.

In order to be a leaky boat syndrome it would’ve had to be a great boat, it’s never been that under Benning. It’s just simply a building team and a 20 goal scoring possession driver like Jake is a great middle six forward to have.

Winning teams need an effective third line, Jakes a disappointing 6th overall pick but he’s still a good player at this point. Mac and JV with Gaudette in the middle is a nice trio imo.

If they could get a second round pick for him I grab it, only if you can lock up Markstrom to a team friendly deal though.

I don’t care about the other teams, I care that we have them because it reflects poorly on our GM and his ability to build a winning team.

Same. Lack got us a 3rd and 7th, I'd probably be happy with that if we signed a solid back-up.

Lot's of oddball variables thrown into the mix with the season paused, but for better or worse Marky is our guy. Can't see him demand anything too over the top.

It will come down to choices.

I will clarify I am perfectly fine with no first or second round pick this year. I am not the GM though and he said he may try to recoup this pick at the draft table. The only players that could recoup a high pick are JV OJ Demko or BB ( a very longshot he would be considered )

You need to decide do youu want Jake top 6 over TT? Not bloody likely or do you want JV over Roussel who has 2 more years cost controlled cap . Pod K will probably take that spot the following year .

Some players will be moved this year and I guess we will find out who in 4 months.

If the cap stays the same or lowers. There will be a crazy amount of buyouts and players being traded for pennies on the dollar.

Teams that sold at the TDL I think right now are in much better position than teams that bought.

That is a BS answer. The team you rant about has 2 players still on buyout next year and have paid Kevin Hayes at 7 mil for 6 more years.

Almost every team has bad contracts . Benning is not the only GM to have made bad choices.

This is a bit different than last month's goalie of the future trade Markstrom

Is the pick or JV more important for team success right now? I don’t know the answer to that, just wondering what your thoughts are. I’m not as high on any of our prospects contributing to the club in any significant way in the next three years so they should probably keep JV.

Prospect Zack MacEwen has played 17 games and scored 5 goals. He has had multiple big hits and at least one fight .

It is wrong thinking prospects don't add to the mix. Gaudette and Hughes both came in this year .

Briesbois and Lind may be ready next year but we will wait and see.

Hope you gentlemen (and ladies since I know there's more than just Carol that posts on here) are all doing well. I just got back from Costco and the Great Toilet Paper Depression of '20 is going on strong. I hope when this all blows over we have a great rest of the season to be able to take our minds off of the craziness that is happening and sure to get a lot worse before it gets better.
