If the bank wants to not charge my bills while this situation develops, I will reluctantly accept this.

But my internet provider better not slack off!

Spoke to a doc and nurse today, the hospitals are preparing for the worse, but they said at the end of the day covid is a different stronger strain of the flu with different properties. If you are healthy and under 65, you may get sick but youll get over it.
Wash your hands, dont sneeze on people, dont gather in large groups and chill the fack out.
Be smart.
Chill out.

Was planning on attending Motorama on Saturday...backing out of it now. Cruise booked for end of April but am able to rebook with no penalties. Chillin our is the only thing left to do except work. I’m in public works so I doubt that we will be instructed to stay home. But if it does happen I’m loading up on pork and beef...smoker won’t shut off for two weeks straight

From a Mirtle article in the Athletic:

The best-case scenario here, according to several sources contacted by The Athletic late Wednesday night, would mean the shutdown lasts only three weeks and the NHL playoffs would begin essentially as scheduled in mid-April. Teams would be ranked by points percentage and given playoff berths as if the season had, in fact, ended on March 11 instead of April 4.

That's rather unfair to the 10 teams just barely on the outside looking in. Imagine if the Leafs were 1 point out right now how ripped off you'd feel as a fan. Playing a "play-in" series allows these teams to make up lost revenue (a lot of these teams actually need it) and recreates the "playoff race" that they got robbed of.

For fairness, they should play a best of 5 series between all the teams on the bubble to determine the 4 wildcard teams after ranking everyone by P%.

Boston vs. winner of Long Island (home) vs Columbus
Tampa Bay vs. Toronto

Washington vs. winner of Carolina (home) vs. Florida
Philadelphia vs. Pittsburgh

St. Louis vs. winner of Winnipeg (home) vs. Minnesota
Colorado vs. Dallas

Vegas vs. Vancouver (home) vs. Calgary
Edmonton vs. Nashville

The Rangers and the Coyotes kind of get the short end of the stick here but this method allows all the bubble teams to play themselves in more fairly than just cutting the season off as it currently stands.

So the playoffs probably won't start until May and you want to add another ten days to the schedule?

And the team surviving the 5 game series would be murdered by the rested team.

In the name of fairness, yes. Maybe 5 games is too much, maybe a 3 game series. But something to give teams a chance to qualify as opposed to just cutting it off. Again, imagine if the Leafs were 1 point out, how would you feel?

Considering the whole league is getting a bye-month, the rest might be a factor but it might not be. We've seen teams on long rest lose their 1st game back because they were off for too long. So it could be an advantage or it might not be.

For these bubble teams, just making the playoffs and making up games is worth it financially for them. And for the fans of those teams too.

I would have made that choice also Wedgie. Everyone has to assess their own situation. Yours seems like no more risk than being home here.

Stay close to a border though

The big problem for me was being unwilling/unable to go to any themeparks or anything overly public. I was concerned about getting infected in the airport or plane and then infecting my parents who are 79 and 83 ...

No room in the TFSA or RRSP and I still don't think the market has bottomed.

When it does, when this is finally ending, I think I am going switch out of conservative stuff and into Growth stocks. Should be a couple years of real good returns coming.

Yeah, my parents are 85 and 83. Mom is near the end. I'm going to have dinner with them tomorrow night, but will avoid my wife, who comes home from a business trip tomorrow. The welcome home hugs and kisses can wait until after I see my parents.

Go hard on gold. When everything falls apart, gold goes through the roof. Between the US bubble and this pandemic, it's going to go sky high. 25% return in this past year alone. I suspect Bitcoin is going to spike too but that's always a gamble because most people don't understand it so they never feel confident in it and the market is built on confidence.
