Canada suspends parliamentary activity.

I thought that happened like 50 years ago.

Lots of questions, do you retire soon?

My general advice is to just sit tight to all of my clients.

- Aaron_85

So you would tell me to sit tight? Mutual funds have been hurting

Does the same go for mutual funds?

Pretty sure most of us are not gaming the market and have no idea how.

Besides, even that is a risk. with this much volatility.

I think he would have broken Vaive's record.. I could see Matthews getting 8 goals in the last 12 games.

So I'll make a blanket statement about the markets for those that care about advice from a hockey forum.

When we look at it as a whole, there is no real reason for the drops in the markets constantly. Covid was putting fear into people so we experienced some drops here and there. What made things worse was 1. WHO calling it a pandemic officially on Wed. 2. Saudi Arabia got tired of waiting for the OPEC deal and said "(frank) it." Dropped price of oil. They can do this because in the world they have the lowest cost to make a barrel of oil so they can be profitable even with lower prices.

All the large companies are putting contingency plans into place for projected earnings and profits this year. Look at the banks, why are their prices going down? Banks are still earning fees and interest on credit cards. Likely they earn more as people turn to online shopping. No real reason for the drop.

We will see longer term effects in some areas for sure but overall the world isn't ending and there isn't as significant of an issue as the 2008 housing crisis to continue on like that.

In general, stay invested. I have clients in their 70s and I'm telling them to stay invested because even if you need some of the money, you aren't redeeming your entire RRSP the moment you retire.

The BEST solution is to buy more. Second best solution is to stand pat.

My DMs are open so feel free to slide into them if you want some specific advice.

If you're looking to hedge bonds are a decent idea. Feds are likely to slash rates again.

nah.. .that wasn't the beginning of the end... that was the end of the beginning.

the end of days "date" was September 4th 1984... coincidentally the day the Mulroney was elected. thereafter we achieved some remarkable things, sold/gave away a good portion of our economy to the US, 20%+ mortgage rates and we had to watch a dufus married to a product of the former Yugoslavia progressively erode the national fabric - leading directly to the emergence of the Bloc...

ya... I'm not a fan of Mulroney Baloney.

in case anyone is thinking about bringing in one of his "spawn"... just look how well getting Trudeau junior worked out.

Bolded: lol I forgot about that name

I have to give the guy credit tho... this past year he went against the Conservative party and acknowledged that there is a climate crisis that needs to be addressed.

that's only because now he's old and irrelevant ... and wanted to get back in the news.

I cannot stress how much I despise that guy. The similarities between him and Orange Sphincter aka L'l Donny Trump are astonishing.

if you are intrigued... by what appears my paranoia around this man...

then take a look at Roger Stone... significant advisor to L'l Donny Trump who was recently pardon or similar by Trump... and one Conrad Black... who Trump also pardoned recently.

and who was Conrad Black to Mulroney... well that one you'll have to read yourself.
