Hopefully we’ll all die and be spared from this embarrassment forever. I am always reassured by your positive takes on things. |

Leafs fans are getting ready to pop the champagne and forget this season ever happened.
They don't have to add another year to the number of seasons since they last won the Cup if they cancel the season. - Dyaciuk
Yeah cause they don't count the2004 season either |

Could be worse.....could be the Montreal Expos 1994
Or even the Toronto Blue Jays 1994 for that matter |

Fun mental exercise:
Some jurisdictions have banned all public events over 1,000 people.
So if the playoffs do get played under these conditions, how much would the price be in Toronto for one of the approximately 800 tickets? |

The problem is front line staff tend to over-estimate the severity of things, because they are so immersed in it, they can't see the big picture.
You have 3 people come into your emergency department and die, you think it's an epidemic. It may just be coincidence. But it's hard to fight that emotional reaction. - Atomic Wedgie
Yeah, when I was thinking about the front-line staff, I tried to imagine that context, thinking of the recency bias, the emotional bias, and the geographic impact - but I would expect that before someone tells you how awful it is, they would be immersed in it (multiple cases, an overload of people in beds, and on equipment, and so on). Essentially, the way it's described in Italy would give me reason to believe the front-line people over the CDC.
. . . and MLB has just shut down, too. Crazy. |

They provide very different kinds of information. But yeah, if you want to understand how bad it is talk to front line staff.
The link in the attached article is the guideline used by Italian doctors to triage in emergency when they don’t have the capacity to treat and save everyone

Just listening to TSN . . . . and it dawned on me: What are these guys going to do for 2 months with no sports anywhere? Maybe they could play music videos since MTV won't . . . |

I stopped throwing things at my tv in 2005, since then I'm less rageful and more amused by each new leafs low point
(muskoka5, rask for raycroft, departure of franchise player 1/2 season before his retirement, 2 firsts and a 2nd, historic game 7 collapse, nelson mandela, coach whose only strategy is to yell "let's go", another coach who can't use a toaster, another game 7 collapse, jake gardiner, another game 7 loss after leading the series 3-2, lose to the zamboni driver, etc)

One of my co-workers has a family friend who is a surgeon in the UK. He sent an email to his friends and family.
He states the death rate for seniors 80+ is 21.9%
70-79 = 8%
0 to 9 no fatalities kids are handling it quite well
He mentioned the UK is about 10 days behind Italy, and things are going to get quite bad, quite quickly.
There is no capacity available in hospitals in Italy.
This is not another flu, having a 10 to 30 times higher mortality rate and is at least twice as contagious as the flu.
He mentions, try to avoid contact with anyone. Stay home, get groceries on line etc etc.
Anyway, he goes on, but says the UK will be brutal in 2 weeks time. - Woderwick
Actually this can’t be true because Trump banned all of Europe
except the UK from travel to the US. It certainly couldn’t have had anything to do with his resorts there. |
