I'd rather talk hockey, so I'm copying this from Mike's blog.

1) I agree. It was pretty obvious that we've been missing Rielly the second you saw him control the puck in the back-end. "Oh yeah. That's really helpful" type of thing.

2) Some type of response would be good - even if it's just grabbing him and letting him know you know it was deliberate. It also hopefully wakes the refs up a bit. There were at least 3 disparate plays where Tampa tried to rattle Freddy in some fashion, and the refs called only 1. As a former goalie, I am a gigantic proponent of the blue ice offering protection. If I'm in the blue ice and the puck isn't and you hit me without being directed in, go sit for your 2 minutes or less, asshat. That is completely on the officials for letting that poop happen repeatedly. Honestly, the players shouldn't HAVE to step up.

3) Freddy was outstanding against Tampa. I think the criticism of Freddy is being misinterpreted. No one is saying that he sucks. Everyone is saying he hasn't consistently played as well as he is capable of; this game was an example of what he's capable of, and it's what we want from him on a game-to-game basis. If he does that, he goes back to being the hero and MVP of the team.

4) Agreed. They need to stop being so predictable in what they do. Their zone entries are still terrible. Watching Tyson Barrie slow to a crawl, turn 180 degrees and telegraph a pass . . . how does that type of a drop back help anyone? Anyway, I despite the way the Leafs use the drop back on the powerplay.

Freddy himself pointed out that he was having trouble with his focus, early in games.. Since Ceci stopped that first shot from going in, he had a great game.

The kids need leadership. I feel JT has not done a great job of being Captain. JMO. Better leadership may have brought a higher level of consistency from these kids. Kids that can bury the best teams in the league,,,, for 1 or 2 periods, not all 3.

So here's something to chew on:

Let's just say hypothetically that the NHL says that tonight's games are the last games of the regular season, and they will go straight into playoffs when possible.

Because of differences in games played, they'd have to go by winning percentage (points divided by games).

If the Leafs lose tonight in 60 minutes and the Panthers win, the Leafs won't make the playoffs.

Any other scenario and we are in.

Yes, I have tickets for tonight. Today will be interesting.

I don't think they play tonight.. I know the NHL is a ticket-sales driven league, and the NBA is a TV driven league, so the NHL is at risk of losing a lot of money that they will feel, but I don't think the NHLPA will want to continue playing.

The NHLPA has exactly the same financial incentive as the NHL to keep playing: 50% of hockey-related revenues.

This is going to be interesting.

Although my money is on them suspending the season for now.

Except for the Bruins - the Bruins will keep playing, because the NHL never suspends the Bruins.

Dialling down panic is a good thing

There is a way too large of the healthy population of this world that think they will die from a common virus. Yes, the Coronavirus will be a common virus. Most of the world will be infected at some point.

The healthy will be fine. People need to know this. It’s a fact that Ontario hospitals are already getting an overflow of non critical patients clogging up the system.

For the millionth time. Dial back the panic.

No one here is disagreeing with quarantine. You can limit panic and still agree with quarantine. It’s one of your problems you seem to have.

- Santo_44

We get a lot of briefs about it at work, in the event that there is need for the military to provide any assistance (unlikely, but not impossible). what we've been told is that the biggest fear right now is that as it spreads to more people in more areas, there is an increasing risk of the virus mutating into something more dangerous, or something airborne (which it isn't right now).

People still comparing this to the flu need to educate themselves.
No matter how far they bury their heads in sand, it won’t prevent them from contracting it.

Oh for sure, the Bruins are not allowed to be suspended under the current CBA.

I have to think they suspend the season, but not sure what that means for the playoffs.

Columbus and SJ said they will play games without fans in attendance.. So, either way, money will be lost from those ticket sales.

Canada is a couple weeks behind other countries. Taking action now to contain the spread of a virus that they do not have a vaccine for is smart.

and its not about the death totals, its how quickly it spread and cripples health care facilities...possibly causing others to miss out out on getting the care they need.

If there was not flu shots and such, now many would die?

but again thats only part of the equation.

From what I understand the virus is not transmitted by sweat, only droplets from mouth and nose. What if they just suspended Marchand?

honestly you'll all end up stocking up - since people around you will start doing it.
the biggest issue with corona is mass hysteria (I'm really worried about big groups of people and their 'decision making').
2nd is overload of public health systems.
3rd the health impact (disease) on vulnerable groups.
