Player practicing yesterday, taking morning skate today out 4 weeks. Shocking from this clueless medical staff.
- PLindbergh31

That’s false. Ive fractured bones in the past that have taken days to even a couple of weeks, with multiple xrays, to finally see the fracture. Especially hairline fractures.

They probably xrayed it, didn’t see anything, continually felt pain more than a bruise would see and xrayed it again.

Can you confirm he skated today? Maybe they knew since yesterday and withheld it for some reason.

So they saw it after the morning skate, not before it?

CDC just released news that the corona virus only infects persons in groups over 4999 so sure ill retract my statement. "sarcasm"

Is it really so hard to be smart regarding this? The fact is you can go to the gas station around the corner and be at the wrong place at the wrong time. One person who is infected can contaminate an area. Dumb person contaminates their hands then licks their fingers after consuming a microwave burrito.
Dummy then runs errands and goes to work the next couple of weeks possibly infecting people and creating a chain of people catching the virus.

My point is be smart. Its always good to practice good hygiene. I don't get a regular flu shot and haven't gotten the flu for well over ten years now.
I try and wash my hands, eat decent, get a good amount of sleep.
I have older parents and relatives and I would advise them not to visit locations with outbreaks.
if your sick stay home.

- bird_dog_pa

What situation gives you a higher likelihood of coming into contact with an infected person or surface? At a gathering of 5,000 or more people or at the corner gas station?

I'm 72. No drugs (other than cigs and alcohol), NKA and I walk for miles regularly. Screw it. I've had a good run.
As to the selective death toll, perhaps this will allow all of you young'uns to get your SS benefits.

Not only are you wrong historically, not only have you failed to do even the most cursory reading on the current topic, your post is not even logical.

Yes, the gas station attendant may have the virus. Lets call that random probability x. If you meet two such people, it's more than 2x. If you are in close proximity to 100 people, it is much higher than 100x. Iotw, you could be in the wrong place at the wrong time, but your chances of being at the wrong place, as you put it, are well over 100 times more in such a crowded place. So you are putting thousands of people together, and each of those people are simultaneously facing a hugely elevated risk. Then you are letting them out into society.

And you know what is fundamentally different from all the other alarms guys like you allude to - like Y2K, SARS,hurricanes etc? Those were largely alarms of anticipation. I would personally argue it is better to be scared than sorry, but we are past that with this. This is an alarm of reality. This disease is here. Do you want a situation like Italy - where police are patrolling the streets and hospitals are getting overwhelmed?

I really wish people like you, who clearly do not have any clue about how outbreaks start, continue, or are contained, would refrain from posting comments like this on a public board. Outbreaks are only controlled by one measure, and one alone: draconian restrictions and sharp change in practices. Being "sensible" does not cut it.

You have every right to deal with risk yourself in a personal and subjective way, but you should not try to extend the logic of your decisions to public policy under the garb of "common sense."

What other way is there to respond? Be a company stooge and try and rationalize why a player is skating this morning with a fractured knee cap and the team doesn’t know it.

What is absurd and stupid is calling something that could literally save lives stupid and absurd.
- MJL

No, what is absurd is that numbers for events is being thrown out without any idea if that will keep people safe. my whole point is the crowd number is thrown out arbitrarily. I've read 1K, 5K, up to 10K.
It's a reaction to make it look like you are doing something.

That there is no idea that it can help keep people safe is your false assumption. You don't have a logical point.

- PLindbergh31

They probably xrayed it the night of the game. It obviously was negative. So he skated yesterday. He probably didn’t feel improvement or it got worse, so I’m sure they took another look and found the fracture.

He didn’t participate in the morning skate that I saw. He practiced yesterday and couldn’t finish it.

Seems like this is all pretty standard.

So if they reacted differently he wouldn't have a fractured kneecap? I fail to see your point. What is there to rationalize? Its not like he broke it after he started skating or made it worse.

You just to like to female dog and you are in your glory when you can poop all over this team.

Yes, because applying logic makes you a company stooge.

I forgot, the "Real fans" though certainly know better then the clown show medical staff the Flyers have.

If only you were on that staff JVR would have never broken his hand and Myers would have never broken is knee.

I think that assumption is fair. There is no way in hell he would have practiced yesterday if they knew it was fractured.
