I've been using my albuterol inhaler so I don't have any random asthma coughs and freak people out. - bodiva88
Coughing in line in the grocery store clears people out in a hurry, sry bad joke.
I went to a market yesterday, it was very empty of shoppers. |

Keep people at 6 ft distances instead of packed into scrums - Marc D
That works for the players and coaches, but the media will still be close together. |

Yeah that's one of the weirdest things about this virus
Elderly are always more likely to have worse reactions to illnesses, but not at this level of discrepancy. The fatality rate for elderly patients for coronavirus is soemthing like 10x higher than for young people, which is basically unheard of in other illnesses. Plus kids seem to not be affected whatsoever - bulet13
I think they said one 7-year-old got sick and hospitalized, but she's not in the ICU and is expected to be fine. |

Are they still doing PA announcements and advertising the team store? - jmatchett383
I would imagine if you’re taking a hit, you keep the announcer at home and save the scoreboard electricity |

Incorrect , the players will want a real game feel as possible, you can look back to the orioles games a year or two ago when the played with no fans |

I don't want to live in a hockey world where the Flyers don't shove unnervingly loud commercials down your throat at every possible moment.
'HEY FLYERS FANS COME CHECK OUT THE NEW FANGEAR SHOP BEHIND SECTION 107. WE'VE GOT SOME NEW OVERPRICED poop IN THERE THAT YOU NEED TO BUY NOW!" |

so Santa Clara banned gatherings of larger than 1000 people meaning the Sharks can't have home hockey games. I wonder if Boston or Philly would do that |

Its mainly the elderly who have another existing health problem. And that speaks to MJL's legitimate worry about his own parents.
For the most part others will be fine. And I read the other day that many people have probably already had it and rode it out as a lingering bout of flu or as a bad cold. |

I have a mild cold right now. I am being very diligent about washing my hands, keeping away from coworkers, and am carrying Chlorox wipes with me to wipe down any doorknobs/handles I touch. I am not using vending machines, and I use hand sanitizer before I go to the restroom.
I probably don't have a mild case of it, but why take the chance?
Also, if it is just viewed by those who have it as a flu or cold, and therefore goes unreported, that is going to really screw with the mortality rate. |

His doctor has no idea who is infected.... - ClaudeFather
In that Oskar is likely more at risk than the elderly, I made the assumption that the Flyers' medical staff and Oskar's doctor were in consult before the decision was made. In the same vein, I assume that NHL teams are being careful with taking precautions and have already tested players (and staff). |

Yup. No reason to take any chances if they can be avoided. I've been thinking about pulling my kids out of school for more than a week now. A few more cases in the region will likely tip the scales. Why wait until the virus is actually found in the district, which with the way it's spreading and the lack of testing/symptoms, it probably already is. Of course keeping the kids home is a whole other set of problems. |

I'm sure also but from a layman's thinking, doesn't he already have a compromised immune system? Why take the risk for a picture? |

I'd just stay at home. My company told us to work from home until April and they'd revisit the thought next month |

You would hope, especially with all the travel the teams do and the number of people they interact with nearly every single day. |

Exactly, his doctor has no idea who is infect and it was ill advised as MJL said. |
