Coronavirus average age of death in Italy......wait for it....wait for it....81.4.
And yet I can’t find any toilet paper. - Just5
The toilet paper mania is completely mysterious no matter the mortality distribution. Are they planning on eating TP during quarantine? |

I get that but is that really the most important factor? So what difference does it make? It's about preventing further spread. That is what is most important. If one player has a confirmed contact with an infected individual, then everyone including himself that he has had contact with needs to be quarantined. That is what matters, not that the player is not at a high risk of death. - MJL
No, it's not. But PLind said something alone the lines of "All it would take it one player getting infected to cancel games" and then (without a direct quote) Just5 made his remark about the average death age. So I exercized a bit of judgement, based on this being a hockey board, that his remark was in reference to said players.
The most important thing is public health and safety, specifically those most at risk. I have not seen anyone insinuate that is less important than hockey games. |

Ultimately, this is true. I was only referring to the concerns about the players getting the virus. My parents are 85. I’m concerned about them too. Im concerned about a lot of things right now; I’m self employed and business has come to a complete stop, my safety net and retirement are in the crapper, and it looks like things will get worse before they get better. I appreciated the little joke about toilet paper. - Dkos
A 32 year old otherwise healthy health care worker in NYC showed symptoms and within a few hours was on a respirator. He's afraid he's going to die. Likely and possible are two entirely different things. |

Ask your friend in the medical field if the media is blowing it out of proportion (which, wouldn't that confirm that it is real???). - jmatchett383
My sister the doctor is livid with me for still going to hockey games. Although if Montgomery county turns out to have community spread, tonight is probably my last game for a while. I mean, one of those people may be coming to the Flyers games! And you can't stay 6 feet away from others even in the concourse. |

No they're not. Players when they're not playing live like any other person. They go out in the public to public places. Larger gatherings are not the only method of spread. Anyone who comes into contact with someone who is infected is at risk and can spread it to others. Surfaces they come into contact can cause a spread. On and on. - MJL
Due to heavy travel I would think they have a higher likely hood of coming into contact with the virus. |

It's a very real possibility that games might be cancelled and the fact that NHL players aren't likely to die from an infection won't factor into the decision.

I'm going to the game on Saturday. It is why I took all of Just5's TP off the shelf before he could get to it.
In all seriousness though, I am kinda freaked out about sitting next to folks. I'm a germaphobe to begin with. |

It may have been a small thing, but it was a nice show of class by the Flyers to have Lindblom sit for the team photo. He IS part of the team, and it was great he was included, because I worry since Ed Snider is no longer with us, that the Flyers will lose that generations-long family feel.
Let's hope this team is aware of what lies ahead of them with the upcoming games, especially tonight where they could end the night alone atop the Metro. I've believed this team gets full of themselves on the winning streaks they've had in recent years and then crumble when the wins disappear. This team seems to be winning the "proper" way and truly taking it game by game, so I don't see a big drop off as in prior years when things don't go to plan (like the Buffalo game).
Let's Go Flyers!! |

I can say for sure I will not be going to any games for the foreseeable future. Aside from not being able to find tickets for under $70 each out the door, why risk it? |

In my opinion it was an error in judgement to have him there. |

All 4 of the major sports have closed the locker rooms to reporters, on advice from specialists of infectious disease. Access to players and coaches will be in a designated area away from the locker rooms. |

Is the idea to create a larger distance between them, more of a podium type interview? |

In Spain they are playing soccer games without crowds, rather than outright cancelling them.

I've been using my albuterol inhaler so I don't have any random asthma coughs and freak people out.

I think i read there have been either no or very few child mortalities for this strain of coronavirus. - jmatchett383
Yeah that's one of the weirdest things about this virus
Elderly are always more likely to have worse reactions to illnesses, but not at this level of discrepancy. The fatality rate for elderly patients for coronavirus is soemthing like 10x higher than for young people, which is basically unheard of in other illnesses. Plus kids seem to not be affected whatsoever |
