Coronavirus average age of death in Italy......wait for it....wait for it....81.4.

And yet I can’t find any toilet paper.

- Just5

Yea, let's make light of that. People that age aren't important.

My elderly parents live with me. My Father is 81 currently undergoing radiation and is recovering from major cancer surgery. He also has diabetes. My Mother is 78 with COPD. But hey they're near 80. I have to go out into the public every day for work. I'm washing my hands a hundred times a day. Literally.

I don't think he's making light of it, simply saying that NHL players aren't at a high risk of death from it.

I could be wrong, but that's what I took from it. Still, even getting seriously ill would have an effect.

Edit: The TP thing was a bit off color.

(frank).....on top of that unfortunate situation your hands have got to be WRECKED. I’ve been going through moisturizer like a demon but my mits are still cracked.

I don’t think the concern is that the players will die from the virus. The concern is that, because it spreads so easily, everyone will get sick and there won’t be any players available to play the games for several weeks.

The concern is community spread. In the big picture, who gives a crap about hockey games

Right...but the post 2 posts up was "All that has to happen is for one person affiliated with the NHL to contract this, and games are getting cancelled." So I agree, players could get very sick, but the point was the players themselves aren't likely to die. But cancel games, absolutely.

Having it spread by a large gathering of people, no matter if it's a sport/concert/etc. is a different story. But most fans in attendance don't have close contact with players/team staff.

Ultimately, this is true. I was only referring to the concerns about the players getting the virus. My parents are 85. I’m concerned about them too. Im concerned about a lot of things right now; I’m self employed and business has come to a complete stop, my safety net and retirement are in the crapper, and it looks like things will get worse before they get better. I appreciated the little joke about toilet paper.

The only reason Ghost would play would be due to Myers' injury. The other option would be to play 5D or recall someone from the AHL.

My parents are in their late 70's so I worry about them also.

My parents are in their 60s, and my dad works at a high school in Cherry Hill. I worry about them and, honestly, I kinda don't want to visit them.

Infants and the elderly are always at risk due to immune systems. The broken hip is not what kills them but weakens the immune system making people more likely to get an infection or virus. Something like this seems to happen every so often. Swine flu bird flu sars corona virus. Cyclical.

And like I said, large gatherings of any kind can cause a spread. That could be at a sporting event, a concerts, or any other public gathering. The players themselves are a different issue.

Well I don't personally know anyone that has it. So that begs the question, is it real?

Ask your friend in the medical field if the media is blowing it out of proportion (which, wouldn't that confirm that it is real???).

Yeah, he took a shot (blocked) off his knee against Buffalo. He went down the tunnel in pain, but returned and finished out the game. He left practice early yesterday. Hopefully he plays.

That Bruins defence doesn’t look very intimidating right now. Flyers need to get pressure on them and force them to make mistakes.

Holy crap

I just realized that Toronto is only 1 point ahead of Florida and has a 27-30 RW disadvantage.

If Florida can pick up the pace, Toronto may actually miss out.

No they're not. Players when they're not playing live like any other person. They go out in the public to public places. Larger gatherings are not the only method of spread. Anyone who comes into contact with someone who is infected is at risk and can spread it to others. Surfaces they come into contact can cause a spread. On and on.

Yes, that is obvious. Any person who comes into contact can spread it. I think we're all well aware of that.

I think his point was that, from a strictly hockey game playing perspective, the players are not at a high risk of death from it.

If the NHL bans fans from attending games, how will the players know when to shoot the puck?

I get that but is that really the most important factor? So what difference does it make? It's about preventing further spread. That is what is most important. If one player has a confirmed contact with an infected individual, then everyone including himself that he has had contact with needs to be quarantined. That is what matters, not that the player is not at a high risk of death.
