This might be premature, but the Flyers’ magic number to clinch home ice in the first round is now down to 12 wins (=24 pts). Practically speaking, if the Flyers went 10-4 in their last 14 games, the Penguins would have to go 13-1 to beat us out. - copelal
Crazy to think that we’re getting close to thinking about magic numbers and home ice advantage. Good post 👍 |

Anyone watching this Phantoms game? Honestly, I know Frost is playing but doesn’t seem to be standing out at all. - SuperSchennBros
Did you watch Friday's game? It was the Morgan Frost Show. Phantoms were playing today for the third time in less than 72 hours. |

Thank you, and it’s my pleasure to do so, believe me.
At the risk of dating myself, I’m starting to feel like I did in 1995, when the Flyers not only made the playoffs for the first time in 6 years, but wound up going to the Conference Finals. I know, they made the playoffs 2, 4, and 6 years ago... but since they haven’t won a series in 8 years, and haven’t been deep in the playoffs in 10, the look they have now gives me that renaissance feeling I had back in ‘95. |

Your last paragraph downplays the fact that the flu over the last decade has killed something on the average of 24,000 Americans per year and the little remembered Spanish Influenza Pandemic killed somewhere between 50-100 million worldwide just 100 years ago.
Sensible precautions need to be made for either, but the seasonal flu by the numbers is still more of a threat to public health and that’s a fact. - Sublime55
I thought I explained this already. The key word in your post is the 'still'. We want to keep the threat far lower than the flu, because this disease is far, far more deadly. And one way to do that is to scare people into taking precautions, even excessively scare people.
To give you an imperfect analogy. Its quite hard to catch HIV, even with unprotected sex with an infected person. Chances of catching Chlamydia are about 300 times higher but caught early, the latter is easily cured.
And yet we (rightly) preach an overabundance of caution regarding protection during sex. We don't say - "aw shucks - there are so many more cases of chlamydia in the us. Its easily cured. Lets just jump in bareback." Because that attitude could lead to disastrous consequences.

95 was when it all started for me. I learned the game myself watching that team. The doom line had constant control of the puck and watching them dominate on the cycle... I didn’t know how rare that constant domination was at the time. That year up to the cup year were the best flyer teams ive ever seen.

MacTavish was the last nut to not wear a helmet, right? Wasn’t he grandfathered in as to avoid the new regulation?
I loved that team as well. |

Yes, I believe it was either him or Doug Wilson with the Sharks who was last. |

Why are Penguins fans who saw back to back Cups in 16 & 17 female doging and complaining?
They are also suggesting Sullivan should be fired, and replaced with Vigneault. I read that in the Penguins blog last night.
Penguins fans do not know who the coach of the Flyers is. |

Let me break it down for you, in practical terms, why we should not "relax".
...
Then, the question is, what is the primary vehicle for containing the disease?
It is fear. Fear makes people change their behavior, accept restrictions, and be vigilant. It is the willing/enforced isolation of people with the disease.
Iotw, it is not the fearful people who need to relax (though there is no point in taking things to extremes). It is the "aw shucks its no worse than the flu" crowd that needs to get an effing clue - PT21
Besides, people keep saying... it's no worse than the flu, and many people die of the flu. Well, most of the warnings/precautions to combat coronavirus will reduce the cases of the flu as well. And, many people died from the flu because they don't get their flu shot. When the coronavirus vaccine becomes available, many people still won't get it. All the media and politicians are doing is trying to educate the public.
We can debate how good of a job they are doing (may be Bill's comment section isn't the best place for this). But, it's never a bad thing to educate people. If it comes across as scary... so be it, the world is a scary place.

Morning pals!
My two thoughts atm:
1. Not sure if it’s been discussed a bunch, but does anyone else think Raffl looks x faster than he has in recent years? Is it just bc he’s skating with NAK (my fav flyer)
2. Hopping on the Flyers bandwagon has become “a thing”, I guess? If there are people actually hopping back on from the last few years of boring ass hockey, what happens to the Pens once Crosby is gone? Another magical ping pong ball trick or they are heading elsewhere I suppose. |

I can confirm the bangwagon is a real thing. Just walking around center city and south philly this weekend, there are SO many more people sporting Flyers hats, shirts and jackets. People are supporting loud and proud. I love it. |

The Penguins have a "team negative" portion to their fanbase. Who can blame them with that 2 year Cup drought. |

Yes, my brother who lives in Philly who is a diehard Eagles fan, sixers next and Flyers a distant 4th after the Phils, texted and invited me to come out to Philly for a playoff game
