I currently live in Delaware Water gap, PA. I have friends in Ontario. I drive up to Milton every month to see my Dr and get meds. They would cost $2400 here with good RX. About $375 in Canada. Not sure what the answer is but we are doing something wrong.

Sorry, just making a joke. Don’t want to start a debate on healthcare. Glad you’re getting the care you need and able to save some money.

Over the years I’ve see current events discussed on the board. Usually it came up and didn’t last long. It’s obviously a hockey board and should be for hockey but occasionally there are times when the real world presents a crisis that might be worth a nod of acknowledgement. I understand there is legitimate concern. I might expect to hear that Pop is in a nursing home and I’m worried let’s pray the people in charge get this resolved. And then back to hockey. But iI’ve heard about it being blown out of proportion and media criticism. I’ve also noticed a lot of information about other countries. Once the door is opened... But in this case I believe the virus is a proxy. One’s position on the severity of the virus is a function of their politics. That’s unfortunate and it shouldn’t be. Anyway, let’s go Flyers and let’s go Don Earle.

This is confusing to me, especially coming from an intelligent and knowledgeable poster like yourself.

A large chunk of the media including Fox Entertainment, Sinclair Broadcasting Network and evangelical talk radio seems to be doing everything they can to get Trump re-elected, at least they were the last time I listened in. That’s a large part of media, and in some places like Eastern Washington where my aunt and her family live, Fox is the only cable channel they can get free so it’s 100% of the media for them and probably others.

I guess you must mean CNN and MSNBC and the other fake news networks. Those guys sure seem to have it in for Trump. Especially that Rachel Maddow and her crazy conspiracy theories tying Trump and his campaign to Russia and money laundering for Putin and his oligarchs. Wacko stuff for sure.

But wait a minute, that crazy Maddow is pretty popular and earns the media pushing it lots of clicks and advertising. Trump is a money maker even for the fake news!

What did that guy Les Moonves say? Oh yeh, Trump may not be good for America, but it’s damn good for CBS. I think he’s the CEO of CBS, so he should know.

So it seems the media whether, they are Fox talking to MAGA hat wearers or MSNBC shilling to listeners with trump derangement syndrome, just loves profiting off this Presidency, with its non stop 24 hour news cycles and the President’s unconventional approach to presidenting. Not sure why they’d be in some conspiracy to wreck the economy and kill the golden goose.

If you told me they enjoy pushing pandemic catastrophes to get clicks and viewers, I could certainly believe that.

The virus is bad for the economy because it is an awful thing for everyone. We now have where I work the ability to test everyone thanks to Quest Labs. The Dept of Health still doesn’t have enough test kits, but the commercial lab does. American ingenuity, go figure. So I expect the numbers of those infected to skyrocket this week, and thankfully most cases will be mild. But the number of really sick will rise too. Some epidemiologists think the US hospitals could run out of inpatient beds by 2nd or 3rd week of May. I hope they are just being alarmist. I know at some hospitals there won’t be enough ICU capacity or ventilators if those numbers pan out. Then we are going to have some real death panel stuff that Sarah Palin used to talk about, like does the 90 get the ventilator or should the 50 yr old get it? I hope it doesn’t get to that, but Italy is going through it now.
