this is a complete overreaction if it comes to this, there are more people who get infected with the common flu and die than from this virus, totally blown out of proportion, what 100k cases worldwide max out of 7.5 billion people, practice good health hygiene, if you sick stay home but let us lead our lives dammit |

It’s hard to say given that we don’t know where the virus will be at a month from now.
Unless there is a catastrophic breakout and death toll in North America then I’m guessing things proceed as normal. Corona is a virus which means that there isn’t a cure for it such as there is no cure for the flu, only thing you can do is immunize yourself against it. There is no immunization yet for corona but even many of those that don’t immunize against the flu still don’t catch it and the only cure for the many that do is to ride it out, take precautions, and cold/flu medicine that you would do with many other sickness. If someone is feeling the symptoms it’s unlikely for them to be attending games in the first place, no different than being sick with anything else. |

Let's just say this isn't a stupid idea. Why just shorten it?
Are five game series kryptonite to the virus? Does the virus only show up for games six and seven? |

Haha. Please stick to made up trade rumours. This might be the worst “inside source” info to date. Probably not though. |

Not really none-sense and probably not far from the truth as the NBA has advised players potentially of this happening. I personally think its completely stupid, as mentioned theres a higher chance of catching the common flu and dieing compared to this corona virus.
Moving series down to 5 is just stupid though. They will play empty arenas first compared to losing potential revenue of a 7 game series. |

Why not just name the Houston Astros the Stanley Cup champions if you are worried about humans gathering together.
Bigger picture, maybe with social media on the rise (where people do not have to be face-to-face) this is why the covid-19 strain is an epidemic/pandemic disease. |

As much as I’ve been a little annoyed at the hysteria going on with this whole thing, I’ve recently discovered a silver lining.
Some people stink less.
I mean that literally. They do. Many of these chicken littles are cleaning themselves far better than they ever have. People are washing their hands after they use the bathroom. Keyboards at work aren’t caked in filth and grime. Some work stations no longer have questionable odors.
If anything else, this is slowing what was a nasty strain of normal flu that was going on in the prior months.
That thought is the only thing holding me back from strangling a few of these obtuse asshats |

With all due respect to other posters, every other major sports league on the planet is responding to this virus, and is adjusting to it. The NHL better have some kind of contingency plan ready or in the works because there are two national governments that might make decisions for them, just like the Italian government did with Serie A.
The virus is not as horrible as some people make it out to be, but it is a concern that has to be accounted for. Especially in a league with franchises in New York, Boston, Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, and Chicago where a virus like this could cause real harm to a lot of people. |
