This is just not the type of team that likes to throw pucks to the net or drive the net. Lee is probably the least of the issues right now. This is an overall very soft team.

This team has a lot of issues right now but I disagree he is the least of its problems. He is one of the problems. He’s had a decent last couple of games let’s see how he does the rest of the season but let’s be honest he has been pretty bad for the last couple of months and he’s the captain. That’s a problem.

Yeah, I'm not saying that Bailey is a 30pt guy, merely that's where he consistently was pre Tavares. I would say he is a 45-50 point guy at this stage. This year he's on pace to hit exactly 50 ponts. Still, through his career he has a averaged (not counting his 38 game season in 2013) 42 points per year. So considering what we had drafted him to be, his peak career numbers in the mid 50s are a bit less than the team likely had hoped for. I'm sure they had hoped for more than 10-14 goals and 42 points per year

He's definitely not the second-line center they thought they were drafting. In the right situation, I think he's a decent compliment to a top-six line. So, if you already have a high-powered duo, he'd fit nicely as the third guy on the line. That's probably true of most of the Isles' top six, though...a lot of good complimentary players and not enough guys who can dominate shifts night in and night out.

Lee needs to be better but he is a guy that has dropped the gloves and will not shy away from contact like the other forwards. I'm not sure if he is trying to save some wear and tear not going to the net as much? Players like Bailey, Nelson, and Beau seem to be more of a problem.

Yeah I have no idea? Bottom line is it is happening and has been happening for most of the season. I thought maybe his wife being knocked up and having a kid has been a distraction. I assume that could be the case.

This team just does not seem to be mentally strong. They had a nice season last year but we saw they did not respond well in that Canes series. Teams seem to be onto the Isles style of play now and we are not seeing adjustments from the Isles.

What do guys think the Isle would have to have in order for the Hawks to get Sorokin?

Would a second round pick do it?

With the way the Isles goalies have been playing and no other young goalies in the pipeline, I doubt Sorokin is going anywhere.

The return would have to start at counseling for Chief.

So Varly isn't playing too well? 915 SV% doesn't seem too bad.

Was just wondering since he's signed for 3 more years.

I thought maybe the Isle's would be looking to recapture a decent draft pick.

Varly and Greiss have been shaky and not making the big saves. I think Leddy and Bailey will be moved to get some picks back. Isles are just not in a good position to trade Sorokin.

Alright, I'll bite. First off, there's the investment of time. The Isles have spent six years waiting for Ilya to finally come to the US and it appears it's about to happen.(maybe) If they truly believe he would come as billed, he could instantly be one of the top goaltenders in the NHL. Most feel that Varly was signed to be a guide for Sorokin when he comes to the US. The Isles didn't commit to Lehner largely because of the anticipation of Sorokin's arrival. So that's a fair amount of perceived commitment to rolling out the carpet for him. I don't think they're likely to entertain trading him at this point.

Ok, makes a lot of sense. Sounds like to pry Sorokin away, the deal would have to be fairly lopsided in NY's favor. Don't think the Hawks are in a position to do that.
Thanks for the info.

Cannot imagine Sorokin is for sale. Goalies don't typically get high price tags, especially not unproven ones. His value to the Islanders far exceeds his value in a trade. Trading him would just be selling low on what's an asset with virtually no risk for the Isles and a massive upside.

Speaking of Sorokin, his shutout streak is gone but he's made 28 saves on 29 shots and heading to OT right now

OK so I just learned that apparently people in St. Louis slice their bagels like this:

I hope their entire city gets wiped off the map. St. Louis is the culinary-prolapsed-anus of America.

😂

I actually did a breakfast in Manhattan a couple weeks back and that’s exactly how the bagels came. I couldn’t believe my eyes😂

I’ve seen it a few times in NY believe it or not. I don’t eat the (frank)ing things I don’t care but thought it was notably strange the times I saw it.

Do all New Yorkers take their bagels so seriously?

No. Count me among the ones that could care less. With that said I’m sure there are some that do. Most NY’ers tend to take everything seriously when it comes to native NY stuff😂
