The team was playing like crap before he got injured and before even Pelech was injured. This team has a problem between its ears right now imo. They don’t want to play the way they should or the way we all know they can. Beauvillier and Toews were terrible but that could be any 4-6 players on any given night lately. They pretty much suck all the way around from the goal out I would say minus Pulock, who to me has been pretty consistent imo. They better snap out of this quick or they’ll blow this season.

I agree Cpt but you keep reading these articles about that 4th line like Bossy and Trotts have been out and everything will be fine with Casey and Cal are back. Adding Greene and Pageau should have given this team some jump. It's like they are not buying in.

I think there are some harsh realities setting in for this team in terms of accepting just what some players are and are not. Anders Lee is a 20-25g guy, not a 30-40g guy. Eberle is a great offensive talent with a part time motor. Barzal is a great talent who has been asked to be the team's premier talent too soon. Both goaltenders are average at best. Josh Bailey, Brock Nelson lack fire. The isles lack a true #1 dman and offensive scoring threat at forward. (Pulock isn't far off though)
Sorokin can fill the goaltending void, but the lack of a game changing scorer is a massive need for this team that they are highly unlikely to fill in the next two years. The Isles are loaded with role guys suited for third and fourth lines. Surprisingly just one or two additions can turn this team into a contender fast. But I'm afraid the quality needed for those additions are unlikely to arrive next season

It's simply a flawed roster keaner. I know most teams have flaws but the Isles have more than most playoff type teams. It's tough for the Isles and many teams because you do not have a lot of quality FA's available. Players like Panarin are not always available and they are very tough to sign. Even if the Isles make the playoffs, they have serious questions to address this offseason.

They lost their confidence. It happens with teams throughout the season. Unfortunately for us it’s been a slow, downward, spiral for a while now masked by the occasional one or two decent consecutive games. I’ve always thought they would straighten themselves out and go on a tear. I still feel they can and may but doubt is starting to creep in more and more. Frustrating.

Like you and many have posted, this has not been just a couple of games struggle. Isles have not be right for a while now. I think the team can still make the playoffs but I see very little hope for any kind of long playoff run.

@AGrossNewsday
#Isles Barry Trotz said he will consider personnel changes. Specifically mentioned both Andrew Ladd and Ross Johnston as guys who have been working extremely hard in practice and probably deserve a chance to play.

#Isles Barry Trotz said his team did not put enough "skin" into their effort in 6-2 loss to Habs.
"You've got to play the game that's presented to you and some guys refuse to do that."

Ross should really be in for Martin at this point. I know Barry might not have the best options but we really should have seen more personnel changes earlier.

Just finished watching the game as I had to tape it.
Don’t really think MM was a big problem tonight. As a matter of fact Cal and Matt were probably the only Islanders that were not a minus. I know that means nothing but JGP was minus 5. Again the give always by our top players needs to stop. Puck management was a dumpster fire tonight plain and simple.
Casey(shat signing)is a spark plug for this team and is missed for sure.

This team just plays soft overall. Are the forwards afraid and they need Ross in the lineup all the time? Barry needs to send a message. Sit Bailey even if it's to play Ladd for a game.

Tonight’s game was a dumpster fire plain and simple. Nothing more to say. Your not going to win many games playing like that.
If you give away the puck it’s gonna bite you in the ass and they did nothing but give away the puck. The top line players for me were the guilty party tonight.

Been a lot of bad games though 7. This is not just one bad game. Just swapping out bottom 6 plays is not big enough. You need to sit one of the top 6 players.

Barry has to back up the talk now. Sens should be the perfect team you can sit some players.

This was a complete dumpster fire for me.
Saw the Pulock wrist shot goal and think he may want to try to wrist it instead of the 105 mph slapshot because he hits the net.

It was a complete dumpster fire but there have been a few. Pulock has been the one player who has been good.

Meh, I think the whole d corps has been struggling lately and that includes the forwards d awareness. Pulock was on the ice for 4 against tonight, tough night. He misses his d partner Pelech. I have a problem with him hitting the net. (frank)ing guy needs to hit the net more and get the shots through to the net.

The defense needs to help the offense as well. Cannot just have the 3 forwards trying to score. Forwards need to help on defense and the defense has to help the offense. Pulock, Leddy, ad Toews have the skill to add to the offense.

Last night, the other night, and the night before that night. 2-6-2 in their last ten is not good this time of year. Trotz looks exhausted in his post interviews the last five games. They need to right this ship quick.

I thought they played fantastic against the Rangers.

But yeah, I get your point. Overall play is falling fast.

Bill Daly announces he’s told teams the salary cap is projected to be between $84 to $88.2 million next year

Daly also revealed that in CBA negotiations with the NHLPA there has been talk of creating a multi year salary cap number(s) in order to provide more stability and allow teams to better plan ahead....

Perfect, we'll have no trouble fitting in Parise and Corey Perry's contracts

Could it be that Trotz lost the team already? looks like that on the ice last night.

Last night was rubbish. Their record lately isn’t good but they had some good structure and puck management compared to last night. There isn’t a team they would have beat last night the way they played. Again pure rubbish.

Going to be interesting if they come out and respond to Barry’s message next game.
