That’s actually not a bad scenario if they didn’t have such a fuked up cap situation, Markstrom will give you another three years of great goaltending so if they could get him signed to a four year deal we’d be ok.

Recouping a 2nd round pick for Demko and continuing to develop Dipietro under Markstrom is fine.

All depends if Markstrom wants to cash in on a great season, if he’s smart he should be asking for the moon, which the Canucks can’t afford.

That’s what you get with 30+ players, they fall off the proverbial cliff quickly, add to that Florida doesn’t play well defensively, like the Canucks, in front of Bobrovsky so he’s going to struggle at times.

But man did he cash in, that’s gonna be a bad contract for them, which is why I’m worried about boneheaded Benning signing Markstrom to a similar bad deal.

Demko’s not going to give you the goaltending Markstrom has and mask a flawed lineup, what he will give you, with his 32 games of NHL experience, is solid goaltending if you play well defensively in front of him.

His last game was poor, no question, but that’s what you get with rookie players, inconsistency. He needs time and more games to get that valuable experience.

If Markstrom stayed healthy for the remainder of the year and actually helped get the club in the PO's, his contract leverage would be massive. Maybe it's a good thing Demko is in lol
