Avery was actually pretty good skilled player. All teams and the league hated him bc of his antics. Never dirty just a pain. He should have showcased his skill more. - nyrangers2
His first tour in NY was really good. He was cooked the second time around. I think being Sean Avery was a hinderance to him at the end of the day. He could have been much better than he was.
Sort of reminds me of another guy that played on both of our teams: Dan Carcillo. If that guy ever would have gotten out of the way of himself, he would have been a useful player. His run for us in the 2014 playoffs pre ref bump was really good. |

When the playoffs push started after the all star break, the Rangers weren’t in the fight, and the competition for spots is crowded enough. Flyers really need to give them a shove and slam the door for being late to the party. Don’t need to hear any of that fashionably late nonsense.

Lou Nolan has been the arena announcer since they were at the Spectrum. Whom are you thinking of? The dancing PR guy who was a Soul or Wings announcer? Shawn was fired immediately. - bodiva88
Shawny was not let go until after the season. He was removed as an in-arena host but stayed on through the rest of last season. |

I honestly think no matter what the Rangers make it unless they really tank. Other teams around us have it real bad.
Objectively I'm not sure it would happen, but I want us to sweep both games. Get us to 1 point behind you guys, then the fun really begins. |

I loved Carcillo - Wingdestroyer
When he wasn't being a dummy, he was an easy player to root for that obvious skill. I'm not saying this as a troll, but that GWG in the playoffs against you, showed a glimpse of what he could do.
It's just too bad that instead of focusing on being a good player who could also be a pest, he just wanted to be a pest. He could have been Wilson before Wilson, he had the ability, just not the brains. |

Yeah well, I want the Flyers to win both, and I’m glad the first one is in Philly.
This approach is truly where the most fun is...for me. |

I still cant get over how brutal that crosscheck was to Sandstroms neck. Imagine the repercussions today for something like that. And he got 15 games back then! |

He was a significant player in our run to the Finals in 2010...he scored the OT goal in game 3 of first round series against NJ, I believe. He’d give you those flashes but in the end, would revert to guy the league knew him by. Old habits die hard I guess. |

Yeah, he'd be gone for awhile. Crazy to think dirty plays like that were almost the norm for a long time. I still think about how many games Mess would have gotten for his check on Modano (best known for the medical guys dropping the stretcher)

I don’t so much want anyone to take anyone else’s head off as much as I do want it to become at least a man’s game again. |

Man I forgot how viscous , dangerous and bad that Brown cross check from the gifs montage was.
To me it's up there with Bertuzzi on Moore, Mcsorley on Brashear.
Just terrible. |

wish tonight's game was in NYC and Sunday's in Philly. For whatever reason. Have seen the movie of the Flyers playing away at MSG on national TV before. - wilsonecho91
I'll be there in NYC on Sunday. My printer is taking me to the game and then out to dinner as a retirement going away. They usually play pretty well in NYC when I'm there. |

Just rewatched the sequence.
While I felt bad for Sandstrom, I would have felt worse if he had not been such a cheap shot artist. If it had been Dale Hunter, I wouldn't have felt bad at all. |

Not disputing the viciousness, but, it wasn't as premeditated as those others.
IIRC, the larger sequence had Sandstrom really cheapshotting Howe (and possibly digging at Hextall - I'm fairly certain Sandstromwas getting penalty). Howe was really pissed. I hadn't really noticed before, but he deliberately speared Sandstrom as he was getting to his feet. You can also tell that Hextall probably wanted a piece of him too. Lindsey Carson wanted the power play.

Yup, that all makes sense and obviously watching it in slow motion enhances the perception of the violence in it but man..that neck whip is rough to watch. |

As much as I hate the Isles, I don't think I've ever been as disgusted as his cheap shot on Turgeon. I get that other shots have been worse, but to me that hit was the most gutless thing I can ever remember. I was only a tween when it happened, and even at that young age, I knew what a dirty cheap hit that was. |

The Zdeno Chara hit on Max Pacioretty is one I'd like to unsee.
The hit by Aaron Rome on Nathan Horton is another one.
