Nice little spot on Kubalik on NHL Tonight. The campaign has begun for Rookie of the Year. They pointed out he has been averaging 1.76 goals per game over the last ten games which leads the entire NHL-- not just rookies, but everybody.

I remember the Hasek thing. As I remember they had terrible goal tending the year before and found Chevier who played well for them. Then somehow they got Hasek the next season but told him he was #2. He knew he was better, made a lot of noise and they dumped him. Then Chevier sucked and they looked stupid when Hasek turned out all world. Sure they wanted a do over on those moves. That's how I remember it?

Enjoyed your research into the past on Hasek. Recall being flabbergasted at the move, before he launched into his superlative career.

I believe it was a three team trade, with Ruuttu coming back to the Hawks, and according to Foley he was playing last night.

I thought he said the Hawks didn't talk to him?

It’s sounding more and more like a congressional hearing all the time.

Nope

Was a straight trade to BUFF

Hawks got Ruutu and Steph Beauregard G

And I think they exposed that G in the expansion draft

He suffers from a total lack of self-awareness. He is acting all pissy because they never offered him a contract.

he's gone. Woohooooo

- Elbows15

If I played well enough in goal, I'd be a little upset too.

I like Foley when he sticks to hockey. On some occasions, though, would be willing to trade him for a draft pick.

Somehow they got a 4th too which became Eric Daze. I think that happened when they traded Beuregard to WPG, maybe?

I just remember hearing Daze being mentioned in that trade somehow and seems more like someone trying to paint a slightly rosier picture.

For me I'd rank this one after the Espo trade to BOS and just ahead of the Chelios trade to DET.

Other notes
• Blackhawks forward prospect Andrei Altybarmakyan, 21, is open to signing an NHL contract for next season, according to a source. Altybarmakyan, a Blackhawks’ 2017 third-round pick, recently completed his season in the KHL and had six goals and 11 assists in 49 games with Sochi. His KHL contract officially expires on May 1.

• The Athletic’s Corey Pronman recently ranked Mikhail Grigorenko as the top European free agent. Grigorenko, a 25-year-old center, plays for CSKA in the KHL. He has 19 goals and 22 assists in 47 games this season. A source said NHL teams have reached out about Grigorenko, but the Blackhawks have not so far.

• Grigorenko is a teammate of Blackhawks prospect Max Shalunov. Shalunov’s agent said this week Shalunov remains interested in talking with the Blackhawks after his KHL season finishes.

Just because he played well doesn't mean he's a long term solution where the team is concerned. Crow has too. We have 4 goalies now battling for the backup position. I really got tired of him blaming all the time. Were the boys playing bad at times, sure! They did. It's a young team trying to find their way & play under JC's system.
Inconsistencies galore. Lehner was quick to blame. In this team sport, he threw his team under the bus, but he did not look at himself with the same quick, harsh judgment. He had a good deal of poopty games too.

They got Beauregard and future considerations which turned out to be Eric Daze. Beauregard was traded to Winnipeg a couple of days later for Ruuttu.

I have a new line to use
About hoping the team will be better next season and beyond
Ernie Banks always had a line. He was an eternal optimist
We are reminded about our prospects, the draft choices here and those we expect to matriculate
So let us hope those prospects help turn our fortune around
Say
By next leap year!
Is that honestly optimistic
Not said in Total Mock Derision of the current regime..

Don't know when it will happen, but it sounds real good. Go Hawks!

....you mean the current regime that can't outsmart an observant 10 year old boy?

Esposito trade no doubt was the worst ever. You sense now after all these years, that he got underneath Dollar Bill's skin. Bill fixed his ass by trading him to Boston, where he could cause disruption and score goals! Talk about cutting your own drunken schnozzola off, to spite your face.

Not sure about that, Gabe. The current regime has given Hawks fans some pretty good times. Not many 10 year olds coulda done that. Except Elbows when he was 10.....

5-on-5 high danger chances: 6-2 CHI

Interesting and telling, but do they have a stat that breaks down "getting pinned in your own end for an entire period"?

- Chunk

I think the bolded above implies that.

Calgary had Gus on the ice for overtime. Calgary lost in overtime. Calgary thank you for the 3rd rounder. And now, the new Blackhawks defense in the Post-Gus era. How much will it improve ? So far, no Gus in previous 4 games. Only one bad period, that was against the Blues. Hawks defense shows improvement, but let's see where the next batch of games leads us. Maybe this was the shot in the arm that The Hawks needed ? Maybe so, we still have lots of games remaining, and we are gonna find out.
- MadHatter

They've still been very bad. Lol. 43, 33, 37 and 38 SA is abhorrent. Well under water 5v5 as well.

Crow has been outstanding.

Basically, they still suck at defending. I happen to think it is a 60/40 split between what they're being told to do vs talent level.

Anyway you cut it Koekkoek, Maatta and Seeler in the line up means you're going to have a bad time. None of those fellers should be back next year. Plus dealing with Boqvists growing pains is going to be a thing. Would be nice if they would just let him run rampant like the Avs have done with Makar and Vancouver has done with Hughes. At least it would be entertaining.

Kane and Toews both have said he's missed in the locker room so who know's. Seems odd that someone who was a problem would be mentioned as being missed by your two franchise players
