I do not believe that Lehner was in proper form after returning from his knee injury. You may recall that he was inactive for a couple weeks or so. He has not looked the same since returning.

Where Lehner plays next season is difficult to decipher. There is no team extremely weak in net. Whom would pay a lot for him? Maybe he will not sign until the season is already under way! However, this means teams would have salary cap room at the time of signing. So there is room to think that Lehner is going to be forced to sign for less than hos asking price.

Would Arizona want him over Kumper? Maybe...but for a big contract with term - no. What the Coyotes do is first resolve the T Hall situation.

There is room for Lehner to return here if he had not burned bridges. At a bargain price he might stir interest.

I might rather prefer to give Delia and.Crawford the mod. Laakinen will get an opportunity perhaps but Delia is the better talent. And I would be disappointed if Gravel is not signed. This kid might be pretty good.

Agree with all your points on Caggiula’s value to the team and potential difficulty replacing the entire package he brings to the ice if he’s let go.

Barratt is the prospect who is closest to playing a similar style and having the same impact as Caggiula and Shaw.

Hopefully Barratt signs an ELC in a month or two.

But with his choppy skating does it hold him back? Will he be told to work with a skating instructor and then wind up playing a season in Rockford with getting better in his skating?

Not a specific teammate, but....Was it last year or the year before when he mouthed off about this not being a developmental league. While technically correct, it's not a great attitude to have when the team has a rookie or young player that they want to pair with him to learn from his "amazing" example, skill, work ethic, decision making and knowledge of the game.....

But both Joki and Bovquist have said that Keith has been amazing at mentoring.

Maybe NYI sign him first then trade him....
- PatShart

Brassard is not someone you want too much. He is one big hit away from ending his career. There was talk how he was a shell of his old self. Not quite apparently but still he is not the super fast skill guy as he was when drafted. He is a year to year gamble as an extra skill guy to give offense a boost. If he is playing for a good rate, then he probably re-signs. Although NYI have some too prospects close to NHL duty.

I found this part “ Plus, negotiations had totally died out." intriguing when you couple the Sorokin rumor. Dreger doesn’t just put stuff out and if he felt there was a deal in place then there is something to it. You don’t go from talking contract to it collapsing into nothing for no reason.

I remember the Hasek thing. As I remember they had terrible goal tending the year before and found Chevier who played well for them. Then somehow they got Hasek the next season but told him he was #2. He knew he was better, made a lot of noise and they dumped him. Then Chevier sucked and they looked stupid when Hasek turned out all world. Sure they wanted a do over on those moves. That's how I remember it?
- rpeters01

I thought Hasek got dumped when Belfour and Waite were ranked 1-2 in the league in GAA and shutouts. No room at the inn.

So who makes up the Hawks goaltending tandem in 2020/2021?
- DarthKane

David Foster and David Ayres. Save cap room for the D-Men.

The Hawks had to leave 1 goalie available for the expansion draft.

They had both Hasek and Belfour

Belfour had won the Jennings, Vezina and ROY 2 years prior

They chose to trade Hasek rather than lose him in expansion and keep Belfour

I've never gotten the impression that 19 and 88 are given to bad-mouthing other players, even if there was tension or a problem. I think they are too savvy and seasoned for that. That's not saying it's on Stan and that's not saying there wasn't something with 40 in the locker room. I think Lehner tends to voice his feelings more and may be less PC, which is one of the reasons why the press likes him.
- Nmbr1

Yup, the press like Lehner because he gives them something to write about. But the press cant control/trade the players. most, if not all, teams like their “problems” kept in-house and held in secrets. Im sure no one wants their whole neighborhood knowing the problems going on in their house

I’m not too worried about Barratt’s skating. He has worked on addressing his deficiencies this season and could improve more once under pro coaching and has access to pro resources.

Although still early to say, Barratt brings a package of offensive skills and strengths along with sandpaper, relentlessness, and defensive awareness where the sum of his parts may negate any skating weaknesses.

Like any prospect, we shall see. Still a lot to like about him.

It is a close call and Laakinen may prove he is better. Delia is the more athletic but this is not necessarily mean he is better. Both have impressive moments and both earlier this season were very average, even struggled. Bowman should take a look at Laakinen in the NHL before the season is over. It is good to see him face NHL talent and face the NHL pace. Laakinen has been ok lately but Delia has been very good. If Laakinen gets recalled he may not be quite as good as he could have been earlier this season when he was playing so well. Either netminder would be ok with me to be the NHL back up next season.
