Does anyone know when teams can start making trades again? Is it after the draft starts? Thanks

EDIT
Nevermind. Found it.

I agree. All I’m saying is you won’t likely truly replace him, and what he does, without spending at least as much as it will cost to re-up him here. The only way he gets replaced for less is if Stan gets lucky on an entry level contract rookie. But I don’t really see anyone like him “in the system”.
- Ogilthorpe2

Agree with all your points on Caggiula’s value to the team and potential difficulty replacing the entire package he brings to the ice if he’s let go.

Barratt is the prospect who is closest to playing a similar style and having the same impact as Caggiula and Shaw.

Hopefully Barratt signs an ELC in a month or two.

Whtever happened to him?
- squishy24

Wedin was injured for a long stretch, came back recently but then sat out the following game.

Possibly his injury is still lingering or the Hogs are just easing him back in.

My money says the Sorokin rumor comes to fruition this summer.

Hawks get Sorokin + Brassard. Hawks buyout Smith to make room for cap.

He is a UFA after this season.

Shot attempts: 62-44 TB
Shots on goal: 38-27 TB
5-on-5 scoring chances: 19-11 TB
5-on-5 high danger chances: 6-2 CHI

Interesting and telling, but do they have a stat that breaks down "getting pinned in your own end for an entire period"?

- Chunk

That’s another reason why the defense gets exposed so much, they spend too much time in their zone. We need a line or two cycling the puck on offense, minimize the opponents time in your zone. Both Toews and Dach can play that game, they need the right forwards playing with them to compliment that strategy.

This is one of the reasons I was against spending big $ to keep him. As much as I hate the shootout, and as much as I wish this wasn’t the case, it is a part of today’s game...and with the margin between playoff teams and non-playoff teams being so thin, it’s actually a reasonably big part of the game.

While the 3 on 3 OT has helped to mitigate the impact of shootouts in the standings somewhat, it still occurs often enough that you can’t afford to have a guy that doesn’t give you at least a 50/50 chance to “earn” the extra point.

Plus, he seems like a giant D-bag to me.

- Ogilthorpe2

Unfortunately, shootouts are important and more important than some make them out to be? I don't have stats but actually I thought Lehner was pretty good on breakaways which made the shootout issue more mind boggling. Either way, he is gone - it's stupid to think fans would ever be told what the offers and negotiations were as much as we would like to know - and yes shootouts are important and must be taken into consideration.

Lehner this year was 1W 3L in the SO, saving 3 of 10 shots.

Lehner career is 9W 23L, saving 51 of 99 shots = .515 = 58th of this seasons 62 goalies.

Crawford this season - 2W 1 L, saving 6 of 10 shots = 36th out of 62.

Crawford career 33W 24L, saving 139 out of 195 = .713 = 31st out of 62.

Rankings are a bit skewed because of some goalies having a small sample size of SO opportunities.

Keith is highly competitive, and so is his will to win. Have you ever heard him throw a teammate under the bus?,

What are the giving up better not be their 1st? Maybe 2nd 3rd and nylander only with assurance he is coming over to play in the nhl next season.

They need some D-men that can engage physically while keeping their sticks on the ice to win the puck. They get mauled below the goal line constantly which leads to teams cycling down low until there is a break down in coverage. Puck support is another issue. They get frazzled and the wingers are all just trying to get rid of the puck to not turn it over. Which leads to them turning it over.

Don’t forget there’s another team shooting, too - with a couple (Kane .422 and Toews .490) of pretty good SO ...uhhh..shooters.

Precisely my point. If you're modus operandi is to keep fans in the dark, then fans have the right to question what you're actually doing. I'm not clamoring for exact numbers. Perhaps a little insight as to why, would suffice. Years ago, the Hawks had Dominik Hasek on their team. Next instant, he was gone. One of many reasons listed at the time, was that he was having difficulty with our language. The Hawks prove time and again, that nuance is not their forte. A "family member" who admits to the world he has had internal struggles? And, to actually critique a floundering and poopty team in public, when asked? You must be kidding!

How can you possibly deduce this, Ogi? I honest to God, never heard one rumbling from any source that indicated he was a tool from inside the locker room, or anywhere else. If he was a jerk, it was the best held secret of the season.
