Think of all the Lundquist jerseys McStoolie could sell!
- gabriel

Actually, the q will sell out because of all the Boqvist jerseys that are going to be sold.....

Will the Rangers retain 50% of Kings salary?

I still would not take him at 50% retained. He was overrated in his prime and over the hill now, just one man’s opinion.

Well one thing that he does that most 4th liners don't get a chance to is he's a regular (and is effective) on the PK. Plus he's a backcheck specialist.

I guess though that isn't to say that as a forward, a team might want more.

I'm willing to bet that Kubalik would be an excellent penalty killer. He's got length, good speed, and hockey smarts. The Hawks surely didn't want to try him in this role this year because his dollar figure would sky rocket even higher if he showed success at this too. If he continues on his scoring spree to mid 30's, ouch at what his agent will be seeking. That may cost us Saad.

I say good riddance to Maata, Kampf, Smith, for sure. Possibles to Strome, DeHaan and Shaw because of injuries.

As for goaltending, no way on the king, CC is better anyway if he can stay healthy. So....who is this mystery goaltender SB is talking about ?

I would not him either. I just think if that was even in the cards, NYR would have to retain salary.

It’s not in the cards, just Darth trying to get a discussion going, better that than politics.

Kampf is replaceable
- Scott1977

In another season or two, the 4th line could be Entwistle centering Highmore and Hagel. Or at least any two if those kids with Carpenter.

If Carpenter continues to play strongly by the time his contract is up, I wouldn’t mind retaining him at a decent AAV for veteran leadership and grit.

Carpenter is somewhat of a steal at just $1M.

Honestly I would rather have Crow. Just my opinion.

Me too, 100% but I can see Stan going another way.

Crawford / Sorokin would be my ideal duo.

The King is probably better goalie than Lehner, though ... but that's about as far as I will go with that narrative.

... and in more upbeat news - Gustaffson was a +0 tonight and had the lowest amount of ice time of all the Flames' defensemen ... they learned quickly, didn't they?

Never trust a KHL goalie -- way too many highlight videos of KHL goalies giving up goals from the red line ... personally I don't trust that league's defense -so even if a goalie has decent stats ... that's more than likely the case of a goalie playing on one of their stacked teams ... SKA, and CSKA usually being the case ... and Sorokin? CSKA. Caveat Emptor.

Same here I'm still wondering if there is some truth to those reports of him being traded here. Would explain why lehner was moved possibly

The thing is, I actually like this team. They aren't making the playoffs... but I like the humans that make up this roster.

I would imagine Smith for sure. If he's unable to be traded, he'll be bought out. Trading him would possibly be best, but I can't imagine someone taking him without salary coming back.

It's a shame about Shaw. Of the recent Hawk returnees, like Saad, I thought he'd definitely be a contributor and bring some flexibility at fwd with where he could play. Plus, Redass.

Hopefully he's ok and it will be interesting if he tries to play again next season. He's got nothing left to prove really, being a player passed over in the draft twice before being a 5th round selection with the Hawks. He's cracked the 100 goal mark and won 2 Cups.

Like with Seabs it's a lot of money to walk away from but wondering if he'll retire.

I’m not remembering any buyouts by the Hawks - I think maybe a compliance buyout after the last lockout - but it doesn’t seem that it’s a way of doing business for this franchise.

And they seem to like him - he played almost every game before he went down for the season, even tho his ATOI was under 12 minutes per game.

And back surgery can take time to heal - can a player on LTIR be bought out?

I wouldn’t be so quick to assume he’s bought out this summer.

I wonder how much thought went into the health of the players Bowman brought in last summer - three now on LTIR for the rest of the season with flare-ups from continuing injuries (including Shaw’s concussion issues).
