I thought he said the Hawks didn't talk to him?
- mohel

They didn't make an offer. They pretty much heard his terms and said...oh hell no.

Where does Altybarmakyan fit in the Hawks’ line-up? The numbers don’t shout “top-6 production”.
- StLBravesFan

He doesn't.

Canadiens recommend to Caulfield that he stay another year at Wisconsin.

Wonder if the Kings are recommending the same for Turcotte also at Wisconsin.

Smith and Shaw done for season.

Somebody check on Elbows.

Hopefully it is the last time we ever see Smith.

I don't think so. I don't know if it matters, after the TDL there's no roster limit (but there is still a cap limit).
- DarthKane

Not true. You only get 4 recalls after the trade deadline. Or 4 emergency recalls. One of the two.

Another year would be good for Turcotte. Though, he has been hot the last 3 games.

I think the theme of the off-season will be goaltending.

Like him or not, Lehner was the top free agent goalie this summer. It sounds like the Hawks aren't set on Lankinen, Delia or Subban as the back-up either, which is probably right.

I think they'll re-sign Crawford for 2 years then trade for a younger goalie or sign a European free agent. Although I wouldn't be surprised if Stan went another route and sign Markstrom.

- DarthKane

Not giving you a difficult time Darth, but don't you think Markstrom's asking price would be a little too rich for Stanley's blood? He currently can't seem to part with anyone on this juggernaut he's constructed. Maybe he'll surprise us all this summer?
I'd love to see that happen.

Possibly, Markstrom was more of just an example of a UFA signing that Stan could surprise us with. Markstrom is good, but he's injury issues would scare me away.

Given his personal history, he's going to be lowballed everywhere he goes. It'll be short term or go home. He'll soon discover this, if he hasn't already.

Hey Mo Man!

Nah, just overstating things a lot while I'm still venting. I appreciate them for what they've done for us. The Lehner thing just stuck in my craw, is all. Nobody was privy to the discussions, but they act like they were. End of the day, there is still a negative stigma attached to folks who've had mental issues. Bowman said he had a 'unique' personality. 'Ya think? I'd say that what he's experienced, has made him that way.

I would have enjoyed having him around. Just as an antidote to the fallacies and downright lies that are coughed up every time, this time of year.

I'll always believe that Bowman potentially liquidated one of his prime assets, for a pick. (That may or may not work out in the end).

I haven't lost my humor though. How would you like Jimmy Waite's job? It could be worse somewhere. LOL.

- gabriel

Prime asset? He was an average goalie at best.

Any goalie that could make this year's version of the Hawks appear randomly mediocre, when they actually stunk to high heaven, has something going for him. Hang onto your own descriptive term if you wish. I think a lot of Hawks fans, saw something far better than average.

He was better than average - better the Crawford thru January - kept the Hawks in games and close to a WC spot - until the most critical time of the season.

I have no idea whether or not the lack of progress on a new contract and the looking TDL factored into it, but starting with the last game before the break, and continuing on into the critical Canadian road trip - he was not very good.

Players in general have to ignore those outside factors - goalies in particular need to focus only on the next opponent transition, rush, and zone play.

Apparently, Lerner couldn’t - or, at least, didn’t.

Let me ask Lehner lovers this....

Did any of you hear Crawfords thoughts on Lehner? Ever hear him complain about having to share his net, feel disrespected?

He was the guy that won multiple cups for the organization. Should have been there for the first one too. But not one peep. Never heard him call out his teammates ever. And hes been here the while time.

This clown came in here and i heard more whining and complaining from someone that's done nothing.

Good. Riddance.

He’s a blocker. He’s a big guy, who positions himself reasonably well. He’s not athletic, doesn’t control rebounds well, and loses his net a lot. Plus he’s useless in a shootout and likes to mouth off.

See ya.

His numbers were trending downward before that. Some his fault. Some the team's.

At the end of the day, who cares. He's gone and for all his "good" work, he can take his "tell it like it is" spiel somewhere else.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. Hard to really tell where he slots as poor as the defense was and as many shots he faced. The biggest game of the year, Panthers he didn't show up.

For the beer connoisseurs in here, DeHaan has used his time off to create a beer as tribute to the Hawks fans, “Loud Barn Lager”

Agree with that. Has appeared to have painted himself into a corner. Has so many outside variables that are working to his disfavor. My sole gripe with him, revolves around his annual Rosy Scenario. Can't come out and openly state they are a fringe bubble team, for obvious reasons. And, yet, serially downplays the deficiencies by stating he "likes the team" or McStoolie piping up that we are a playoff team. I wouldn't mind new leadership at this point. But, to say the problem rests solely on Stan's shoulders, would be grossly unfair. Issues cropping up everywhere we look.

No. Never did hear him complain once, because he knew in advance that his bosses rewarded loyalty. I always love it when Crow starts. Like him as a person, too. But, he isn't anyone's answer for long term success. Probably not even short term with concussion related injuries. Hope this does not happen anymore. Might serve the Hawks well, until they get serious about winning on a consistent basis.
