Hextall probably will. I dunno why he doesn't have the rep Francis does when they're basically the same guy.
Bergevin definitely not. Assistant GM job or "special advisor" or some poop until people forget he exists. - BINGO!
i do hope you're right about hextall. he apparently (frank)ed up a little here with day-to-day poop and it's a shame. but i still think the long term plan works and he can just start it over somewhere else. it's not like it's his idea and he's the only GM who doesn't want to trade away a bunch of picks and prospects for 311 year old tony amonte at the deadline to get in the playoffs and lose in the first round. the flyers sure weren't used to that though. |

Hains: Game 66: Canadiens vs Rangers AKA On Pins and Needles
Your team being up 2-0 should not be stressful but it sure is with this team... - Karine Hains
I think the canadiens are going through a rebuild without most of us actually knowing it's happening. bergevin is calling it a reset. why? a reset sounds better to aging vets like price and weber. it sounds better to blood and guts players like Gallagher, danault and Byron. it helps to appease players like petry, tatar and chariot. in other words, the core. it also serves to confuse fans just enough to want to remain hopeful and not apathetic.
somewhere down the line, this core will have Suzuki, kk, poehling, fleury, brook, Romanov, Caulfield, primeau with maybe a ylonen or juulsen or both panning out.
the bottom line is that as fans, we can either female dog about everything the canadiens currently aren't or choose to see that there may be a pathway to something worth being optimistic about. |

when is the last time we saw a Habs coach miss the playoffs 3 years in a row, come up to journalists saying he has no clue, unable to answer why they can't play 60 minutes.... and keep his job? he's gone.
but then MB would have to hire his 3rd coach. so the question is, how many coaches can a GM hire before being fired? so he's gone too.
that will be an interesting summer. |

don't be so shocked at Julien's comments. he's finally figured out that he was hired to be bergevin's sacrificial lamb.

After his last disastrous press conference this seems like an attempt to save face with a carefully crafted story about transparence.
He should get an Oscar for this "performance". - Garfield512

So I just checked the schedule ... Hurricanes tonight?
Won't be pretty as the Canes are a good team and the Habs don't have the munitions to do anything about it. Which is fine with me at this point ... tank baby tank! |

I agree completely with you.
Couldn't do it through UFAs, nobody wants to come here for whatever reason.
Couldn't do it through trades when you have nothing to trade.
So it has to be draft and with the hit or miss, having lots of chances can only help. If we want to get better quick then we need to suck and draft high, then hope to "get lucky" with the quantity afterwards. |
