Yes...however the difference of missing out on gains vs straight up losing a bet...which is what options essentially are...is my point. Either way...as I said earlier I don't do it. I do as my guy tells me and it's been a great strategy from day 1 to today so I don't see it changing
- Takemedrunkimhome

Yeah that's cool, I'm glad it's working for you. However, I don't think you fully understand options. They're used as a hedging strategy so that's why your comments were a bit confusing for me...all good!

They should be used to hedge. Not always the case...but you're right in that my knowledge base is enough to discuss but not enough to listen to. As I said earlier I've just been crazy lucky with timing in the real estate and stock markets...little to do with me other than knowing to put the money to work early

One of my friends just invited me to the game

I'll probably react the following way if the Habs score a goal to take the lead

Yep ... that's why I'm watching this market correction like a hawk the last few days, just waiting for the proper time to put money back at work again.

There's still some downward pressure so I'm not touching anything until the S&P 500 falls to 2950 or below (13% below 52 week high). I'd rather be patient than catch a falling knife.

Here’s how long stock market corrections last and how bad they can get

Yup, lost a lot in tech stocks 20 years ago.

Don’t play that game anymore.

Started buying land, cuz they don’t make it anymore..

That sucks ... I lost a little bit myself but nothing to write home about as I've never been too much invested in volatile stocks. I've made back those small losses several times over since then.

Options are a bet? wow....

They allow you to trade shares that might be otherwise too expensive to trade.
1-you make money if stock goes up or down
2-if you actually own some shares you can make money off them without selling them by writing options
