They play a 57 year old for 22 minutes a night because he's allowed to do whatever he wants to the opposing forwards. Elbow, cross-check, spear, drop-kick.. you name it, he is allowed to do it. - PatC80
Well when he does cross-check a guy in the face, he has to pay 5000$
So yeah....
He'll probably think about doing that twice now!
...
And do it again. |

Is it because Rask is awesome? Or because of how well Boston is playing in front of him?
I feel it's mostly the latter. Rask is a good goaltender with a good team helping in front of him. - Scabeh

Oh, and again..
The Bruins get special treatment.. They only lose games so that the league can try to make it 'look fair' |

Of course he will, he’s got an awesome team in front of him that hasn’t been hammered by injuries to their D.
Freddie’s sv% was .897 vs TB - 3 good goals, just like most nights. |

good point
Also a factor on the defensive side is the fear of receiving an uncalled crosscheck to the head or kidneys from Chara.

He has always played for a defensively responsible team.
There is a very clear cause and effect between defensively responsible teams and the Vezina & Jennings trophies.
Occasionally you get a guy who just steals the show, but more often than not you have a good goalie who is being provided the opportunity to succeed.
This year Andersen has been below the expectations we have for him and those he has for himself - that is a given. But the team's inability to play defensively in front of him are so terribly obvious at times that it's hard to deny.
Now, I do contend that Andersen has been giving out more rebounds, stopping play less, not controlling pucks as well with his glove - which leads to more opportunities - but the defense gets hemmed in their zone and run around too often. They leave massive gaps too often. They allow a screen in front too often, and allow high tips too often. These are all things that a well run defense prevents far more often than the Leafs defense does. Some of these things are prevented when the goalie catches and freezes the puck or controls the rebound, but more often than not it ends up in the net with no chance for the goalie to control the placement of the puck or the pace of the play. |

my issue - the defense is the first line of goal prevention.
it's difficult to judge freddy with so much bad play in front of him.
they need to get their poop together. need to figure out if freddy can be better behind a more disciplined team. |

1 leads to the other, healthy d playing sound would not allow all the chances

Our D IS worse...
When your idea of organizational depth on D is calling up a 19 year old and a 20 year old, you know it is bad... Rielly is great. Muzz is good... but after that its a huge drop off...
Barrie doesn't count because he is not a d-man...
