Why are you going back a decade? The Blues still had Steen and well that's it. What's the connection there to winning a cup. It's a completely different team so that's so irrelevant What does it matter if they won a round 10 years ago?

Depends which ones you are talking about but a player coming off an ELC that signs a 2 or 3 year deal is not going into UFA status. They are still an RFA. Matthews will be a UFA when his contract is done. There's a big difference.

They had several core pieces that stayed along the course. They definitely made changes, some very significant ones but given how they improved and succeed, they were obviously the right ones. The Leafs moves haven't had the same results.

I never in my life heard fans brag about winning a round until the Leafs drought of wining a round went over 10 years.
In the early 2000's fans would tell me a trip to the conf. finals was nothing because only a cup counts. I heard an Oiler fan gabout 1 round win 3 years ago. WTF is up with that?

You know if/when the Leafs win the Cup, JFJ won't celebrate. He'll criticize the way Tavares holds the Cup over his head.

They slowly grew as a winner over 8 years with with 95% roster change but Leafs are done after 4 years.
