My argument isn’t that the leafs are the blues, just that if you make the postseason anything can happen.

It's not a stretch, it's the facts. The Blues won their division twice, won four playoff series, and went to the Western Conference Finals once before they won the Cup.

This discussion goes back to somebody claiming the Leafs a contender and my reply was that they haven't done anything to prove that they are. That's not on the players 100%, that's on the GM for not making the necessary adjustments and upgrades. The moves he has made have mostly had little to no effect and in some cases a negative effect.

The "anything can happen" stuff is just wishful thinking. It doesn't actually work that way. Anybody can win a game, sometimes teams get lucky and win a series but rarely if ever does some garbage random team just miracle their way to a Cup. Certainly isn't the blueprint teams should be following even if it happened once.
