Does the D need to be upgraded instead? Tough to do with our cap situation. - VanHockeyGuy
I think it has more to do with the convoluted systems being used. It appears to me anyways, that the players, when in the defensive zone, are trying to get set up for leaving the zone rather than making sure the defensive responsibilities are taken care of first.
It is something that both forwards and defense are doing far to often. |

you mean replacing on the 2nd line with Motte wasn't a brilliant plan. who needs a 14 goal scorer in Virtanen getting 2nd line minutes when you have 4 goal scorer in Motte. - Codes1087

Honestly why have Toffoli with Bo and Pearson and JV with Petey and Miller when you can have LE and Motte in your top 6?

18 goal scorer Jake, might end up scoring even more goals, if he were playing on the 2nd line, which in turn would mean he would get a bigger raise for being a 2nd liner. |

This Canucks team is a lot like the flames and leafs teams from 3-4 years back ...young skill, good power play and great goaltending. Not good with the fancy stats ..Get outplayed a lot but as long as the goaltending holds up and the pp keeps clicking they can beat anyone any night.
Just gotta enjoy the ride and consider the season a win already ...anything else is gravy - Redmile247
The improvements I have expected this year have been met. Young team still learning with a Babcock style jackass coach (appears).
Nucks are now below .500 over their last 10 and we know what this means going into the PO push. Very tough schedule.
VGK EDM CGY and now NSH have all .620% or higher over their last 10. Even WPG has been playing well.

If Van develops a few more top 6 forwards, Would be easier to trade someone for a better D. Or Van develops forwards and defencemen of their own, they can trade for others teams first and second rounds picks - manvanfan
Why bother? 1st and 2nd round picks will probably never play in the NHL. |

Observations from last night,
Demko played terrible, although the team in front was even worse.
The team was flat to start the game, again, wtf is the issue, and this lands at Greens feet.
Pettersson is playing scared, I mean he will give up the puck to not be hit. He losses the puck on his stick for fear of being hit. Last night it was really noticeable.
Why do none of the Canucks and I mean every single player not wrap up the opponent, why do they refuse to layout a punishing body checks. Why do they not pressure the opposition especially in their own zone.
To me there is a simple answer, and I have been on this since day one of this guys hire, the coach is responsible to set the systems and playing style, and ours is way over his head. Get through these last games and hopefully part way with this AHL coach.

Thumbs Down: The Vancouver Canucks
It’s a shame that the Canucks felt that they were good enough to push their chips all-in this year. Players like Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes have them on the right track, but it’s hard to say that the true competitive window for that group is open right now. |
