But it's not just about an individual scoring goals. There is so much else that relates to being the type of winger that compliments a top 6. Hornqvist used to be that guy, but hasn't been in a few years. He doesn't carry the puck up ice, his zone entries are mostly dump ins, and he is not a great give and go player that move the puck around the offensive zone well. Crosby utilizes those wingers to his advantage, to open up space, and that's not Horny's game. He is a crash and bang player that works better with a center who prefers to rag that puck around himself. He isn't a fit.

Place Hornqvist on Malkin's line. You can't tell me Malkin doesn't like to have the puck on his stick. Put Rust with Sid. You can use Simon, Sheary or whoever else you want on the left side. Other than Zucker no other LW stands out.

Personally I am more comfortable having the goal scorer play his strong side than I am the play maker. If Simon is such a great thinker of the game, he can think it just as well on the left side as the right side. Whereas when Rust, or any goal scorer for that matter, starts to think too much it results in his entire game suffering.

I'd swap Sheary and Marleau there. Can't shake the feeling Patty should be with Geno.

What are his numbers since Zucker came? I thought he's looked good on that line. The first game he played with Zucker and Sid he was absolutely flying.

What are that lines numbers in general since being formed? I haven't seen anyone post them yet.

I don't know the stats but my eyes have told me they've been pretty damn good together except for the 2nd TO game.

I agree. I want to see it.

That Tanev Blue Rod line should be insanely fast if what we've heard about Rod is true

This looks strong and deep. I agree that they will likely push Marleau up with Geno. And 13-53-9 will be a forecheck for the ages. But can we PLEASE give Lafferty credit for his efforts to date and pencil him in with ZAR-Bjugstad. He has earned at least a spot on the 5th line.

I agree with the bold, while he may not light up the scoreboard Lafferty definitely earned his spot at the 13th forward at a minimum. That kid did everything he was asked to do.

Haha didn't mean to leave him out, I actually did think of him but my best guess would be that if we are all healthy that's already 2 extra forwards and he'll be down playing WBS until that season is over and then he'll be back up during playoffs.

If we make it deep enough for Guentzel to come back he'll go on whichever line in the top 6 that needs it more. Say Sid Zucker and whoever is killing it, I would imagine Guentzel with Geno but if it's the other way around he'll go with Sid. It sucked when Sid went down but the only good thing out of that is we found that Guentzel is great with both centers.

Problem is if we are full healthy he's the 15th forward and they won't do that until the playoffs.

I understand once healthy he may be, but if I'm honest I just don't have any faith in Bjug playing for this team again...he has completely fallen off of the radar. When was the last time he was even discussed as it relates to his status? I hope they ship him this summer and try for some D help, I was hoping he'd be gone this TDL.

I like Lafferty, but I don't know that he's better than any of the 15 other guys they'd have if everyone is healthy.

He's 14 games away from losing his waiver exempt status so he's in an interesting spot next year where they might be able to send him down at the start but almost have to make room. I say it's interesting because if a forward prospect makes the team his 13/14th forward spot might be gone.

This would be my lineup, too. People wanting to switch Sheary and Marleau, remember that Marleau is 40.5 years old and shouldn't be given the bigger workload. Not that you'll get top 6 production out of either of them, but...

I think Marleau can have some time in the top 6 throughout games.
