He's been getting pretty physical to win important board battles tonight. He's been scoring goals from near the net all season. But some people can't seem to see past their misconceptions and still think he's a perimeter player lol.

Well he does lead the NHL in goals scored from the slot which presents a robust challenge to that particular narrative.

He's taken a big step this year.

Saw one of those heat maps and he's scoring in the paint all year long. Nylander's office.

He's also 23 now, the oldest of the bunch. Getting stronger, metabolism slowing, testosterone still peaking.

I bet if we traded him for a signed until he's mummified doughty (2 mil retained obvs) that argument would have more merit

Apparently he gets a lot of his goals from "dirty" areas. Ask someone like Santos, who "specializes in facts".

If that's the case, maybe a new nickname is in order, something like "Fly-by Willie", cause that little detail is still quite apparent in his game...

Matthew Tkachuk's 2 goal of the year candidates are taking a terrible hit from this new information.

I can gloat because I said right out of the gate that his contract would turn out to be a good contract. Even though it still regularly shows up on here on doobies list of perceived (frank) ups
