You gonna find some 20goal scorers to play on the 4th line?
Or plug Lazar & Asplund into that role & think they’ll score 12+ goals (and play good defense?)

- jdfitz77

Do you think Girgs is going to shoot 15% again and score 12+ goals? Because I'm pretty confident he won't

Agreed on upgrading the middle six, I just see redundancy with Lazar and Larsson.
Interesting you want to dump Simmonds. I thought for sure you would love him. I liked his 1st game and would be ok with 3RW for a season.

- IonSabres

Obviously I love Simmonds 🙂 always have.
He was a regular on every fantasy hockey team I've ever drafted back in the day.

He needs to be a middle 6 guy on a playoff team next year. 4th line would be ok, but my senario was keeping the log line and the #1 line. Plus skins

Can he play winger #9 effectively?
BINGO!

I think a big difference, other than being in the division, is that we didn't have someone that could step right in like Carolina could offer with Haula.
One thing that I haven't seen mentioned in the trade is that because Carolina traded Haula before the end of the season, they now owe Vegas their 5th round pick as well.

- adambuffalo

This is true, they do.

Which, honestly isn't a huge deal considering they still have 5 picks in the first 3 rounds this year.

Even go to 3years if needed

The synergy on that line is over 9000.

You're likely right, but I won't discount it.

Fair enough. I'd be a little worried about girgs x more than 3 years.

Larsson- I'd give him 2 or 3.

Log for 3 years at 9.5 - 10.5 a year?
Right now that's looking good

Olo $ 4 mill - eichel $10- sam $6.65
Skins $9 ( 2c ) - jo $4.5
Tage/ mitts / dozens $1 - lazar 1 - simmonds $2.5
Girgs 2 Larsson 2 okposo 6.5

- Boss34

Where do you project LOG in 2 or 3 years? This is probably their offensive peak (as a line). Feels like you're buying 4th liner's at their high point, which is a scary thought.

This is a tough decision, that people are dodging by assuming they'll come back at team friendly terms.

Grouping Simmonds and Kahun into 'keeping the same guys' isn't exactly fair. The two have combined for 13 minutes of hockey for the Sabres.

10mil for the 4th line sucks,
but we are stuck with Okposo

Doesn’t mean we should get rid of 2 guys playing really well in their roles so we can save 1mil each

The problem is the middle6, not the LOG line

Nope
But i do think he’ll play well again in a defensive role, and that’s very important
Allows the improved middle6 to play in offensive situations & score like they should

Do u think Lazar & Asplund can score 12+ AND accurately fill the defensive roles that Girgs & Larsson have been doing so well at?
Bc if u do... it’s just a guess. We have t seen it

Well you're keeping 3/4 of those guys. Simmonds doesn't need to be here, but a guy who has some milage left, like him, would be extremely helpful. If you do keep him, you chalk him into the 3rd line. It's up to the team to find players to.. erm.. synergize.. with him.

1st line
Skins-find (frank)ing someone-Kahun
Mojo-find (frank)ing someone-Simmonds maybe
LOG or equal with Okposo.

Cozens in all likelihood is here. Does that make Simmonds, a personality they clearly covet, a 13th F? Can you trade MoJo? Does Botts really depend on Cozens at 2C at his age 19 (20 in Feb) season? Are you filling the 3rd C with a 1-2 yr stop gap? Where's Casey going to be in September? What about Tage?

That's not even getting into the defense. The 3C will need to carry the line, as Simmonds can't do that and neither can MoJo.

- TheSabresTaco

Pick 4 for the 4th line and extra forward:

Larry, other larry, Simmonds, Okposo, Lazar, Asplund, Ruotsalainen*

Top line
Skinner-blank-Kahun
Mojo-Blank-blank
*Insert-three-here
*one extra

That's how I think it should be approached. Right now there are 7 candidates for 4 bottom line/extra forward spots. That's my opinion anyway

Actually I forgot Lazar. So yeah, based on that, there would be one spot different for next year. That doesn't appeal to me at all to head into next year with the same group of forwards.
- jcragcrumple

I'm ok with johansson hitting the road
They may move sam?
Gotta think cozens and tage have spots
Asplund ?

Asplund, Miller and a pick, if Pilut was also included they wanted Toninato back also. Don't ask me why, he's got 11 points.

Those two still have plenty of game left, and have operated well without Okposo.

What's funny is, as long as two of them, any two, are together, they succeed. If they're broken away, they largely underwhelm.

They're the strongest together, and it's a very good line for Buffalo. So in saying that, you have to wonder if Kyle declines (within his current role) how much it has an effect on the other two. Kyle largely creates the offense for the other two.

Asplund & Ruotsalainen in Rochester as callups
Bring back Larsson, Girgs, Lazar & Okposo (Bc we are stuck with him)
Simmonds if one of them leaves

Easy peasy

You're also paying these guys in their primes for 3 years.
Both ufas

I agree, I wouldnt sign these guys tomorrow.
Talk about peaking. Might extend okposo based on the last 5 games.

If the Larrys want to come back and if they dont get a better offer. I'd personally rather have Lazar than Gus because of his physicality

Are ppl upset if the LOG line is back with Lazar as
13th forward

2nd line: Skins-(legit 2C)-Kahun
3rd line: MoJo-Cozens-Simmonds

I’m actually pretty ok with that

Skinner at 9 million for 7 more years is much scarier.

I'd say both girgs and Larsson at a combined 1/3 skinners price, have been more "relevant" than skinny this year

Why do people want Cozens rushed, how did that work with Mitts ? I don't think Mitts amounts to anything but a 3rd line player but that's my opinion.

The best 4th line in the league
Which plays at a 3rd line level
And would continue to eat up tough defensive minutes against the other teams top lines so that an improved middle6 can focus on scoring against more favorable matchups

What the LOG line does is extremely valuable when you’re talking about the roles they play in an actual game
