I don't have sources but I tend to agree. Botts thinks he is in a race, he's not trading Risto.

Honestly, at this point I wouldn't either. There was a difference in what advanced stats say his value was and what his perceived value was league wide. I think a smart GM would have made that deal. These days, it sounds like Risto has very low value even though ironically this is his best season in some regards. The deal doesn't make sense anymore.

So you hold him and his up and down play until he's set to become a UFA? Do you extend him on a contract nobody will like?

Been saying it for a year.
Trade him.
He's not that skilled

- IonSabres

We agree on something at least
I said Tage was crap the day we traded for him
Still hope I’m wrong...
but if he’s got trade value I’d include him in a package in a heartbeat

Right!! Let’s not break the bank on our 3rd or 4th line, although they do have the potential to shut down opponents top lines and thus open ice up for our top scoring lines. I do like that playbook Though.

They might be the best 3rd 4th line in the league
- cabin

They’re absolutely the best 4th line in the league
They can hold their own compared to most 3rd lines

It’s baffling that ppl still look at these guys like they’re top6 failures

It’s been 2 full years right now that they’ve been playing well in their roles
Idk what more ppl need to see??

And they play almost exclusively against other teams top lines

I was saying they (Larsson & Girgs) could be good players in the right role for 3years now,
when most said they shouldn’t even be in the league

And when many this summer said Okposo should be buried, i said he was actually a decent player in his new role (just with a terrible salary)

- jdfitz77

Remember when Larrson had some points a few years ago when they had almost no talent? I do and I never got the all out hate on him either.

I think him, Girgs, Okposo, Risto, even Jack are examples that coaching does matter.

By the way, I like Tage too. A big man with skill. I hope he is an important cog in the roster.

Imo, best the Sabres have looked in quite some time. Look a bit faster, more coordinated attack, more physical.... Risto, Miller, Simmonds leading the way
I'm liking what I'm seeing, especially against the Avs.
One difference in roster seems to have pumped them up.
Hopefully Kahun can add another spark next game.

I’m admittedly biased against Tage
I never saw the fit with his style of play,
and i thought we should’ve gotten one of their
“A” level prospects instead of him (“B” level imo)

I never saw him as the 25goal power forward that many thought we were getting

I’d love to be proven wrong about him though
He should get a legit chance to male the roster next year
Too bad injuries derailed him this season

He is no power forward.
He is big, yes. Power, no?
Uncoordinated, yes, below average skating, outside of straight line speed...can't turn with acceleration.
He has a toe drag move that he then fires wide 80% of the time.

Trade him.

I haven’t really looked up stats to see where they compare to other 3rd lines...

Do u have an opinion based on their analytics?

From the eye test,
i think it’s great that they constantly
-start in the defensive zone
-vs other teams top lines
-and still end up playing more in the offensive zone than their own on most shifts

The way they tilt the ice against other teams top offensive talent is extremely impressive imo

That’s basically been my opinion the whole time as well

I didn’t see him play at all this year though
And many did say Tage looked great

If he can be part of a package that gets us a 2C,
I’d include him without hesitation
I just don’t know if he has any value in other teams eyes though

gmtm drove me mad. On one hand I liked his aggressiveness bringing in Canaan O'Reilly but then both of those pieces were shipped away pretty quickly. It's how we handle the draft at drove me the most insane. He took Alex nielander over sergachev. And from that day on that's when I doubted what he was up to. It seemed like anyone with a Russian name wasn't good enough to play for Buffalo and that's ridiculous. Alexander Alexander mogilny will always be my favorite saber. I wonder how different things would be sure we wouldn't have yo kiharu but wouldn't have sergachev. At the time we would have still been crap so we could have had Dolly and answer your chav at league minimum for the last 3 years I know this is hindsight but it kind of matters. Reinhart over draisaitl. The rest of the pics I'm fine with the butt could you imagine eichel sergachev draisaitl

Playoffs are still a long shot
But it’s nice to see us playing good hockey

Simmonds plays like this the rest of the year & I’m cool bringing him back

A 3rd line next year of: Mitts-Cozens-Simmonds
could do some damage if Simmonds can play like this
