Time for Scotty's son to step aside and let someone else pull the trigger on Madison Ave.

As for goalies, I saw Delia play against the Wolves last Sunday. He was beat like a drum. If the Hawks wanted a backup from Vegas they should have taken Sparks.

I can’t for the life of me understand why he took Subban as a piece of the trade. Living on his family name alone. You have 4 solid goalie prospects waiting in the wings. Wtf were you thinking?!

PROBABLY. to make the Cap work for Vegas...

I won't defend Stan anymore, I can't. I haven't been this pissed in a while. I feel really bad for Kane.

Just a couple of notes <><><> We do NOT play Vega$ or Calgary for the remainder of this season. Yeah, bummer...I, like most, or all of us, had high hopes when Colliton was hired. Well, that was very disappointing, to say the least. This is real hockey, not looking at some sheet with percentage's on it, and trying to put that junk into a real game. BYE BYE Colliton...and now, for the upcoming draft. The top five, as far as I am concerned. Alexis Lafreniere, Quinton Byfield, Marco Rossi, Lucas Raymond, Tim Stutzle. Those are the top five FORWARDS, and probably the 1st five actual picks, although someone may choose Dman Jamie Drysdale very early. The rest of the forwards in round #1 looks like a crapshoot to me. So getting in the top six picks is important for Hawks future. Other forwards I like are Czech center Jan Mysak, and winger Jack Quinn of Ottawa.

no no, that's just an excuse to justify the cap mis-management.
First, the TK27 caphits are agreed upon by both sides. So they shouldn't be used as an excuse one way or the other.
you cant tell them to waive their NTCs if youre the one who gave it to them.
Secondly, there is flexibility in the cap. especially when Hossa's was off the books and now Lehner's. You do realize that there is 15m spent on Shaw, Smith, DeHaan and Maatta and only half of that is currently playing. One can say that 15mil could have been better spent.
But it is what it is, excuses and reasons are coming from both sides. Who knows whos right, the fact of the matter is, you see the result of said "cap management". That result cannot be debated

- squishy24

It's not an excuse at all. The implication (and please someone correct me if I am wrong) is that we are somehow doing a disservice to T&K by not properly filling the roster with competent players, or that we are bad at drafting players that can help. The fact is that we have a number of high dollar contracts which eat up a lot of the cap. Thus we cannot necessarily fill the roster with as many higher end players.

To your second point, Stan tried to fill in players that should have been able to make the team more competitive (Shaw, Smith, de Haan, Maatta, Lehner). You can say after they are injured that the moves were "bad", but no one can predict injuries. If Kane gets injured, would the money have been spent better elsewhere?

My point was there is a finite amount of money available under the cap and we are top-heavy. If the stars think they are not being served properly by what Stan is doing, they can ask for a trade to a situation that has more flexibility.

You feel bad for Kane? Really? Why? He makes more money in three months than most of us make in a life time. He’s healthy. He’s young. He has won three Stanley cup rings. He’s doing what he loves, playing a kids sport for a living. And you and I pay his salary! Patrick Kane should feel sorry for you!

Yeah, this is not what we are looking for...

Corey Crawford starts tonight for Blackhawks vs Blues (7pm).

Seeler in for Carlsson.

Sounds like Subban will likely be the backup the rest of the season to let Delia play more often in the AHL.

I think many teams are top heavy, and most have bad contracts. To me, the issue is the inability to replace Hossa, Hammer, Bolland, Oduya, Seabrook (the young guy, not the current one), Sharp, et al. Those guys are hard to find, and these days you find them at the top of the draft. Until the last couple years the Hawks haven't drafted there.

The current NHL system is the culprit, imo. I guess it feels better for some to have tantrums directed at Stan. They should be careful what they wish for....

I'd rather see Carlsson, too. Subban would have to clear waivers to go down. Maybe Delia will get called up for a game or two.

Skjei is signed for 4 more years after this season and is 25 years old, rather than a 27 year old pending UFA.

Enjoy those 4 years. Skjei kinda sucks.

Considering we have no idea why he’s not playing or who’s idea it is for him not to be playing I’d say it’s a tad premature to blame anyone, don’t you?

It is a coach's decision who plays. At this point, Seeler is the better option for a loss

Waivers issue with Subban so he will stay up with the Hawks. Plus, what better way to see what he can do than play him in NHL games. If the Hawks don't want him going forward they just don't qualify him in June and he walks.

I recall the Bruins being ticked off when they tried to sneak him thru waivers and Vegas claimed him 2 years ago. They thought he had good potential back then.

Delia is a minor league goalie now and probably forever.

Yeah, I know.

I'm curious what the reasoning behind it was. Numbers say he's good at getting the puck up the ice but can't do anything with it.

By we, I was talking about me and the voices. I was mainly talking about Carlsson simply because I didn't get to watch the last game and wanted to see him play.

Im not sure what youre trying to point out. the inability to fill in the roster because of top end contracts are all because of mismanagement of the cap. BOTH "inability to fill in" and "top end contracts" are created/all come from the GM. The GM is the architect of the cap and the roster (I'm sure I didn't have to explain this). So to use that as an excuse, or the "top end contracts", why they cant create a competitive roster all falls on the GM.

As for DeHaan and Shaw's injuries, lots of people that mentioned their injury history and the risk BEFORE the trades were made. But SB went for it anyway, do you remember last offseason? There were even rumors that SB was linked to acquiring Ryan Murray, and guess what, that player is also out long term on injuries.
I get your point, you cant predict injuries, but there are injury histories that GMs take into account when acquiring players. Maatta was also coming from major injuries, thank god he is not in IR right now.

As I mentioned, there are a lot of what-ifs and sides are being taken based on them. Right or wrong, who knows. The current state of the team though? They suck because of mismanagement.
