Lots to look forward to Hawks fans -

Core ages & starting goalie is 36 & has a history of concussions
We have a college coach - a VP from Baseball &
a GM who’s out of touch with the speed & reality of the NHL
A star in Kane who is playing with misfits - a Captain who can’t wait for summer & Duncan Keith who puts in 25 minutes a night & plays all out all the time.

Lehner on twitter letting everyone know money wasn’t mentioned & no offer ever made. Wow.

Another season down the tubes - a few good rookies in 8 -27 & 77.
An Aging Seabrook with 2 new hips & a new shoulder.
Feisty Andrew Shaw who now appears done.
Oh yes - & last in the Central hoping for a ping pong ball in June
Four goals in 20 minutes last night -
Wish I could see light at the end of a tunnel but I can’t 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

- Colbyboy

Neither can the Wings, Kings, Sharks, Ducks, Wild, Habs, Leafs, Senators, Devil's, Stars are on their way we have company.

Stop watching then if you are so unhappy. Internet message boards wont help you either. Go get some exercise and say a prayer of gratitude. Do some volunteer work. Travel to a third world country. Then you might realize how fortunate you are. You're welcome

So you'd prefer a 5'9" center over Drysdale?

As a 17 year old he made Team Canada World Junior team and Dale Hunter used him regularly. Marco Rossi had no chance of making that team and Quinton Byfield barely played when the competition ramped up.

It would be interesting to hear Hunter's opinion on who is going to be better - Drysdale or Bovqist.

I doubt the Hawks would pass on Drysdale even if it was to use him, Mitchell or Bovqist as a trade chip later.

Based on what wiz has said about Byram:s weak points, you realize that no matter how good his strong points.....there is going to be a role he plays or an expectation where he is slotted among the dmen in his team.

On the other hand, it sounds like Drysdale can become successful handling things which Byram is probably always going to struggle with. Drysdale has a quicker route to the NHL.

Each dman has their own unique review. Iin the final analysis you also accept that there is a need to mix/match because there is few whom excel and is the complete package

Use Keith/Seabrook over the years as an example how they coordinate their strength/weaknesses. So using them as example, it is not only skill but mentally the dmen have to learn how to play effectively as a pair. Great individual skill is helpful but whereas you can use that to get by in lower levels, you need the mental part to also be good in the NHL. And experience makes a huge difference as well

How many young guys break in at a tender age and years later may be ok but never became a stud. How about Hanufan on Calgary. But then you see some guys pra rice and become better. Ellis Predators

Wherever a rookie breaks in, his success is Impacted by not only his pairing but the team defense and the confidance the player had in his own skill.

I love the skill package Byram has. It if I could choose to swap Byram fi
Or Drysdale, I probably would do it.

Five years from now you may prefer Byram if he develops his entire game ...but you do not know presently how well Byram might improve the weak areas of his game.

Let us look at how Byram progresses after next year, which is following one year development as a professional.

We sort of have a case study here. And so it goes......use Bouchard/Boqvist as another case study.

Leafs have 3 6 th round picks 4 7 th round, do not have a 1st or 3rd, so they have quantity not quality picks. If cap goes to $83 mil. They have $6 mil. To sign 7 players, with only 2 NHL defenseman signed, I like the Hawks position much better.

Kings drafting record is spotty at best

Stars better win now, they have way more players 30 and over than we do.

Man oh man, the Leafs situation is ugly. They need to trade Marner or Tavares. They need defense. How in the world are they gonna do this ? Will be fun to watch. And regarding what Carolina did, they messed up bigtime. They coulda had Lehner and probably more from the Hawks. Who knows what was in the works. Instead they traded a 1st rounder anyway, and will probably miss the playoffs because of bad goaltending. Too bad for Carolina, they muffed it.

Nobody is taking Tavares and his contract. Marner also has a large contract, but he’s a young stud, he would be much easier to move. They made a mistake when they signed Tavares, he was a luxury not a necessity, should have spent that money on two good defensemen.

Anyone else get a pit in their stomach when Kane responded "I don't know" to if he's interested in rebuilding with the Hawks. Boy if they trade Kane/Toews that would truly be the end of an era.
- catrisc

Best way to truly rebuild though. Kane would net some nice pieces

Exactly. For all the people screaming for a rebuild but can't fathom or are unwilling to deal Kane, the conversation should end right there.

Probably won't happen, but agree that could hasten a rebuild.

Laviolette. Hextall. Sharp. Chelios. Hunter. Mayers. Olcyk. Kathryn Tappen. Patrick Kane. Any of them would be better than Stanbo.

Not if the rumor is true that rockey and mcduff gave an extension to bowman. Heard on the score last week.

Bowman best be careful in dissing input from Kane and Toews. They have tremendous leverage with the fans. They could go to McD and/or Rocky and say they'll go public with complaints about Bowman unless he's gone. Stanbo isn't going to win that power struggle.
- BMWChiFan

When has this ever happened in hockey? Toews and Kane would never threaten the front office about going public. No player is bigger than the organization and they both know that.

If the kid himself and people around the program are to be believed, he will be signing with the Hawks as soon as his season is over.

There has been the stock "he's signing with the Rangers" comments ever since he said he was going back to Denver this year. Likely an ode to the Kevin Hayes situation...

Leafs did their rebuild, didn't get there and are in cap hell. Kings are well behind us right now, Ducks and Sharks are still falling as are the Wild. Stan always seems to come up with a foreign player to add to our draft picks. There is no doubt that Dach and Nylander need to take big steps next year. I would add Boqvist to that. Our defense is still a mess. I'm not too worried about goalie it will work itself out and we're dead anyway if the D doesn't improve. It won't be easy and I really think Stan is going to make more changes again than less, just like last summer. Look to add speed and open up spots with buyouts which they have not done in the past. They need to get creative.

"Three Deadline Losers:"

#2. Carolina

Their #1 need was in goal. It is absurd that they didn't go out and get a Craig Anderson, or a Ryan Miller, even Louis Domingue would have been something...Last night they could have used ANY of those NHL goalies to help. They could have had Lehner, who was the perfect fit, for the first-round pick they sent to the Rangers for another D-man..Lehner was the perfect fit and could have signed there long-term. Instead, they got two middle pairing D-man and Trochek...Trochek was once a high producing hard-working player, but when a team you are battling with to make the playoffs is willing to trade you a player you should ask yourself..."Why would Florida trade Trochek to us?"

I think Carolina didn't want to admit they were desperate for a goalie they let their pride get in the way.

Something. With all the buying they were doing, they seem to be in go for it mode, but I don't think they're winning anything with a healthy Mrazek or Reimer.

It would have been different if they only had their picks, but having multiple picks in the first three rounds and not addressing goalie is kind of weird.
