I wasn't that big on Byram so it doesn't mean much to me. I still take Holtz. Drysdale is still too small for me as a D-man. After the watching the Hawks get mauled below th goal line repeatedly the last couple of season, I am taking the two way guy that scored goals. - Elbows15
You get that bigger defensman later in the draft or you take a flyer on the big upsides of German Mo Seider, or Philip Broberg, or you try later in the draft to select and cultivate your own Colton PARAYKO / Joel EDMUNDSON s....
teams by pass these unpolished defenders early in the drafts because they all want to have what happened to Carolina happen, they pick an AHO early in the second (35 overall), and team get blinders looking at the Nil Hoglanders and passing on the Alex Vlasic s

First things first; what is the date of the lottery drawing anyway? - jhawk59
I am not sure they have decided on the date of the draft lottery but it is usually scheduled connected to a national televised broadcast during the playoffs so there is audience.
I don't like to start salivating over who could be there until I know three non playoff teams with better records didn't win the top three slots and we are then selecting 10.... |

At this point, we can still catch New Jersey and slot into the #6 spot. Go Devils !! The strong top six. Lafreniere, Byfield, Rossi, Raymond, Stutzle, Drysdale. Someone in the the 5 will hopefully take Drysdale, and we get the forward. And we need to hope that forward is Marco Rossi. If Bowman does his voodoo again, we get pick #3, I am expecting it. |

Do you think it is in the DNA of Kane and Toews that once they step on the ice, they would not give 100%? - LAHawk
Toews only does it for the first 30 games to his credit. |

I did and was aghast that the ref was looking right at the play and didn't have his hand up. - LAHawk
Interesting idea (maybe from someone here?) that teams stopped running Crow when Lehner was around knowing he’d take out one of their guys as retaliation. |

anyone cringe last night when Crow got rolled on the play (elbow to head) - thought he was for sure out for the season - glennjpawlak22
If we were playoff bound I would have been peeved after that hit with no consequences from the refs or the team. However sitting where we are, I was 50/50 on that hit. To me it served as a test to see if Crawford can handle contact before we re-sign him. And if he got injured, we would have a look at what we have in the system and maybe make some gains in the Tank standings at the same time.
As a side note, how many teams would let one of our guys get away unscathed after that no matter the score at that time? |

Yeah but now there's no FA to replace him the team had to worry about. |

When not concussed. Elbows (no pun intended) to the head are intent to injure. |

Steen has always been a dirty POS. I was hoping Crow gave him a blocker the next time he came near him. |

Nice to see the comments about running Goalies. Not so long ago it was bad news to brush the Goalie, that made Mike Smith so happy that he didn't have to play dead and throw his gloves anymore. Sadly it has reverted back to open season and Crawford is becoming a target. It is time to pack the slot and make it a tough area to go to. You don't have to be the biggest guys to make it tough on others.
Trade Deadline, what to expect, it's a little like Christmas full of disappointments. We got no surprise presents, but we did get something. The parts that we said goodbye to weren't part of the long-term plan. As well as Lehner played, he has yet to carry the load for any team so far and spending big money now was smart. We don't have an answer yet for next year and as much as I like Crow, it is time to move on, remember any contract he signs counts against the Cap no matter what.
The really sad part of this year is there was on paper a possibility of promise if we could stay Healthy, all of the worst case scenarios happened, I guess we used up our Luck at the Draft. |

Yeah I was pretty shocked. I was hoping the pick would be Dylan Cozens. Only time will tell how their careers play out. Too early to tell. But I was happy it was not Byram, as we were already stuffed with defenders from previous drafts. |

I can tell you the Canes weren't interested in giving up assets for a rental goalie who turned them down last summer and is more likely than not to do the same this one. - BINGO!
And I'll bet a buck they regret that at the end of their year.
Going to lose out because of goal tending. You make the trade, bite the bullet to win a cup.
Big mistake, bigger than any mistake of Stans at the deadline. I'd be pissed if i was a Cane's fan.

So you'd prefer a 5'9" center over Drysdale?
As a 17 year old he made Team Canada World Junior team and Dale Hunter used him regularly. Marco Rossi had no chance of making that team and Quinton Byfield barely played when the competition ramped up.
It would be interesting to hear Hunter's opinion on who is going to be better - Drysdale or Bovqist.
I doubt the Hawks would pass on Drysdale even if it was to use him, Mitchell or Bovqist as a trade chip later.
