They also didn’t win it all 3 times in six years. That’s a lot of accomplishment, for a lot of individuals, in a very compressed timeframe...which results in a lot of players expecting, and deserving big paydays.

Win one, and some guys are gonna get paid. You keep winning, you keep paying. Nature of the beast.

In some ways Boston’s lack of ultimate success is probably helping them stay close longer...same with San Jose in the recent past.

Good post, especially the last line.

Most team have one bad contract, Stan has 14.

Sikura's contract is fair.

Doughty's play has really fallen off now that he doesn't have Muzzin or Martinez as a partner.
- LAHawk

Has it? I havent watched any LA games

Maybe that's why EK had him swapped for Toews and Keith haha

Yup, trying to do too much, trying to learn MacLelland's system (ahem man on man). He gets $11 mil. until he is 38.

Keith has NOT aged well.
- Nmbr1

Hes almost 37 years old

Hes played more minutes than anyone in the world over his career

His D partners - at this stage of his career - belong in the AHL, and he has to "mentor them"

The forwards are horrible at getting the luck out of their own blue line and turn it over at their offensive blue line - which makes any defenceman look bad/takes it toll

And he still plays 24min a night - which is 16th in the league

Yeah..hes aging horribly

Making $5.5 million yet we should trade him because he is hindering the rebuild.

Lehner looked like a completely different goalie his last 3-4 starts. Body language, posture, effort and movement were all off. It’s as if he knew his time Chicago were over, and he just threw in the towel. The guy is a powder keg, as much as I loved him early in a Hawks jersey I think in the long run he’s too risky to sign long term. Crawford was the better goalie for at least half the season anyway.
- Doc1200

Are you implying he quit? Powder keg...how so? Craw had just as many bad games..maybe more. During the beginning of year run...it was Lehner who got the most games, wins.

Per Powers toews had this to say about Lehner.

"Toews on Lehner being traded: Right away you could tell right away he was genuine and he cared about winning and he brought a lot of leadership to the room. I told him many times too that he helped me as a captain. I think he helped some of our veteran guys that have been here a long time kind of wake up to get back to what makes us good players & good leaders & try & get this team going in the right direction. He brought a lot in the short time he was here. Even today you feel that absence."

Doesn't sound like the "bad teammate" or "powder keg" to me.

As some here have said, if Toews, Kane, Keith, and the rest are mourning the loss of two mates, perhaps they should have played better so Stan could have a moderate buyer (or at least a “stand pat-er”) instead of a seller.

All of the good locker room vibes given off buy Lehner and Gus didn’t lead to enough wins.

Can we get a time on the first post where someone laments the trading of Gus? TG doesn't count.

who says they are mourning...is it ok for former mates to speak well of a former mate or do they need to take parting cheap shots like most in this room

Just commenting....

Responding a bit to Kane’s comments in the Trib - when asked if he’s prepared for a possible long trip back to Cup contention:

“I don’t know - that’s something we’ll have to discuss with him (McDonough) after the season. I’m sure there’ll be some discussion after the season is over.”

I'm with Sage & liked his post. Vets should step up. Also, what was Toews going to say? That Lehner is a Richard!

C’mon, Bogie - shrug it off. It wasn’t a comment about you.

And I think my body of work here in over many years has shown I don’t just think the worst of guys.

I challenge any Bowman supporter to find a professional sports writer outside of Chicago’s NBC puff writers who give Bowman a positive grade for his trade deadline.

Now the entire country can watch Bowman’s masterpiece get embarrassed tonight on NBCSN.
