Exactly...and what happens when they are out of the race come trade deadline next season? Will the market favor sellers like this year? Plus, guys like Petry and Tatar will be upcoming UFAs, so their value is less.

Are you really going into 2021's off season with Petry, Tatar, Gallagher, Danault all going to free agency and lose some of them for nothing? They need to look at the bigger picture, and think long term.

imo MB will try to extend them this summer. if he can't he'll trade them. I don't see any walking for free as UFA. teams going for the cup may keep a player unsigned going through the playoffs because they think they can win. that won't be the case with the Habs.

Pure speculation. Tuna really increased his value the last two years...probably curious to know his market value. Petry’s a family man. Might not want to move his family. Gallagher and Danault I feel are lifelong Habs.
