Let's say the Habs stay on their current pick, which is like 7th overall.
How much do you have to give, to jump from 7th to 1st?
7th overall + two 2nd rounders?
7th overall + Max Domi?
7th overall + Max Domi + a 2nd?
How many times is a local player getting drafted 1st overall, while the draft is in Montreal? The timing is ridiculous!
These are all options Bergevin should explore. I'm just unsure of what it would take. - Scabeh
I don't remember the last time a first overall was traded. I don't think it will happen at this draft either.

It's highly unlikely I know.
But at some point, there has to be an offer that makes a team think about it.
I'm just wondering what it is and if we'd be desperate enough to reach it.
Edit: Last time was 2003:
The Panthers trade the no. 1 pick and a third-rounder to the Penguins for the no. 3 pick, a second-rounder, and Mikael Samuelsson. |

If I'm NJ or Detroit (both need a goalie), it would have to look like Primeau, Suzuki and a 1st. |

And that 1st pick turned out to be Marc-Andre Fleury.. I can't see any GM even considering trading away Lafrenière, who is basically considered as a generational player |

The only way to get the 1st overall pick is by winning the lottery. |

2003 was also a great draft and with no clear #1. |

sadly, yes. And for the habs, there's still a "chance"... a small one, but it's there. |

For any team other than the Habs... 7th + young NHLer + 2nd might get it done.
But since it's obvious this is a "special case" for the Habs would more likely be...
7th overall + Domi + 2021 1st.

Well, only took me two goes on the lottery simulator for the Habs to get first pick so there's that lol...
But yeah, as many have said there's no way in hell that the first pick gets traded not when it's that kind of player up for grabs. Let's hope the lottery gods are kind to us. |

Oh, for sure he does, but he wouldn't be xizord if he did. So we just sort of accepted him for who he is. |
