Just listening to the Fan 960, sounds like Markstrom is done for the year. - DuranDuran

Yeah, that's what Friedman was saying too.
Still, that's just about the balance of the regular season, so both reports COULD be right |

Like the deal for Gus, a 3rd rounder is kind of a steal. Wouldn't surprise me if Trentries to extend him to replace one of Hamonic or Brodie. Forbort deal is alright too.
Honestly don't think the Flames did too bad here. |

I guess. I think the Flames do ok if we make it into the second round. Anything less is a loss. |

Would have liked to have gotten Ritchie out of Anaheim. Would have been a solid addition. |

Yeah, was a little disappointed to see how little he went for in the end... thought there were a lot of reasonable deals for some forwards, but sounds like Tre's pretty happy with AM and Dube these days and didn't want to take away their opportunities |

I guess the idea is to give the team a chance and see if they want to play hockey or golf.
If its golfing there will be moves. |

Yup, and not small ones like today. Core moves |

Worst thing about today is the Oiler moves are going to make it really hard for Neal to get to 21 goals. Why would they even dress him now? |

Because nothing is guaranteed in the Pacific and Edmonton needs every goal they can get?? They wouldn't hold him out of the lineup for 20 games to save a third round pick.

I wonder what the return is for Brandon Davidson? Do future considerations actually mean anything? - buddy_doug
Future Considerations is Latin for Bag of Pucks, I think.... |

Little off-topic from trades... but just wondering what you guys think about Mangiapane... do you guys think he will turn into Gaudreau but with an edge to his game?
Also, Dube looks solid. Seen him play lately and he is not afraid of going into corners with anyone. He is gonna be a beauty looks like |

It'd be nice but no. He'll be a solid 2nd liner.
If he can learn how to skate then I've got one word: "look out". |

Why would they dress him when they have competent wingers now? They've been much better since Neal got hurt.

They would if it meant screwing the Flames - their team runs on McJesus and Draisitl driving the offence, Neal's 18 are just like Kassian's 13 - a byproduct of playing with those two guys and just being near them when they have the puck... Anthanisiou will probably score 12 on his own in the last 4 weeks. |

They're not going to hold him out of the lineup to screw the Flames, or even to keep their pick. It's just an added benefit of dressing the best players.

Ha - bullpoop they won't - they likely won't hold him out for the entire complement of games, but he's hurt right now anyways, so they will milk that for all it's worth and, if they find they don't need him down the stretch, will find a way to keep him out of game action as long as possible to keep their asset. aka AHL conditioning stint followed by a game or two at the end of the season to prep for the playoffs.
Draft picks are worth their weight in gold these days, even 3rd rounders, so if Holland can keep that asset, you know he will find a way to do it. |

Just like last year, when he's healthy he'll play. Even if he doesn't deserve it. Teams don't set their lineups according to contract bonuses or trade stipulations because it opens the door to too many potential issues with the NHLPA.
Maybe they try and bury him in the AHL, but it's highly unlikely. He'll get at least a couple weeks of games to prove he's not a complete chump.
