He's been mostly playing wing this season, and is having a 2nd straight pretty good year in the AHL. He will give us some more size too, i believe he's 6.1. I dont mind it whatsoever for an injured rental.

we're better with a 30yr old Vats than a prospect that'll probably amount to nothing. But it's whatever. Our defense is gona be silly next year lol

Dobberprospects has a pretty nice write up on him and projects him as a second liner. He seems like he could be a legit player so you have to like that along with a pick (which hopefully stays a 2nd).

You dont know that. He's still only 21 and we also got a 2nd with him. It seems like we are in an actual rebuild now so keeping vats around doesn't make sense. Especially since he's going to be a UFA.

Why would either team want to do this?

Dobberprospects has a pretty nice write up on him and projects him as a second liner. He seems like he could be a legit player so you have to like that along with a pick (which hopefully stays a 2nd).

He's going to push for a roster spot next season, if not get a chance at some point this season. But i'd prefer him to stay in the AHL and help Bingo on their playoff push

hope it all works out. I understand it's for an injured rental, but Sami is a decent mid-tier dman at a decent price for a playoff team. You just obviously want to get the best possible return.

If the Devils / ownership are the enamored with Vats they can just resign him in the offseason. This is a major win for an injured player, on a team going nowhere, who will be a free agent at the end of the season.
