Are you going on about the 1st they had to spend to get out of from under Marleau's $6m albatross? It absolutely sucks. It's more of an overpayment right now because the on-ice product has performed well below expectations, and the on-ice product has suffered through more injuries this year than they have in the last 3 years and the lack of depth has been exposed.

They could have kept that 1st, and maybe lost Marner, or lost Kapanen and Johnsson - but they still would not have been able to address their problems on the back-end by keeping Marleau.

One of thew worst d men in the league at 4.5, which if it had been granted by the arbiter the Leafs could have walked, meaning Dubas wouldn't have walked at a 4.5 ruling, meaning he knows jack poop about defence, which we see on the ice very (frank)ing game.
