They've spent enough futures the last 12 months.
- aminnes

Are you going on about the 1st they had to spend to get out of from under Marleau's $6m albatross? It absolutely sucks. It's more of an overpayment right now because the on-ice product has performed well below expectations, and the on-ice product has suffered through more injuries this year than they have in the last 3 years and the lack of depth has been exposed.

They could have kept that 1st, and maybe lost Marner, or lost Kapanen and Johnsson - but they still would not have been able to address their problems on the back-end by keeping Marleau.

i agree

but if the return really was poop

the leafs have a good chance of making playoffs - its true, lets be serious they are still in position B lol

Florida is a god damn joke they are playing as pathetic as the Leafs but they just traded one of their top 5 players for a couple grinders and nobody prospects.

leafs goona go on a run now - why? Because that's how our poopty team works

Yeah who knows? Dubas might have something setup where he can recoup a late pick for his rights

Leafs will probably make the PO - if only by default.

Bruins vs Leafs would not be my fav matchup - mostly cuz... you're due.

- Nasty_Duck

You’re due for a head x-ray.

Leafs are buttery soft

So the one thing we get is the one thing we already knew. Still better than doing something stupid.

Another dman

That's the rope-a-dope strategy employed by the Leafs. They beat us so badly on Saturday that Carolina thinks they're cup contenders. They sell off a bunch of stuff and go all-in, but really they just beat us.

Wait till they play a good team!

Ha. HaHA. HAHAHAHAH!

. . . Oh, sorry. I had a moment.

If the deal isn't good, or brings back a poop d man don't do it.

Look elsewhere. But again, Dubas wanted Ceci, he signed him before his hearing. He clearly saw him as part of the solution. One of thew worst d men in the league at 4.5, which if it had been granted by the arbiter the Leafs could have walked, meaning Dubas wouldn't have walked at a 4.5 ruling, meaning he knows jack poop about defence, which we see on the ice very (frank)ing game.

- aminnes

I’m unsure why you are having trouble grasping the fact that Ceci was never going to take it to arbitration.

Why sign Ceci at 4.5? Plenty of options. Lost Marner? Oh, you mean 4 firsts? Cool.

Or nobody offer-sheets Marner, and you have him sit at home.

I’m guessing you were not particularly supportive when Willie was not on the ice.

He wanted to get rid of the boat anchor of a Zaitsev contract.
