He is clearly not the ONLY problem, but he is definitely part of it.

Let's face it, the entire season has been a mess overall, in almost every respect. Matthews showing some improvement, Nylander bouncing back, and Kapanen showing he has a pair, are the only real highlights right now.

Except other teams have 1.1 in cap space who could have done it. Nashville, devils, ottawa all could have retained more.

He has been fine. The numbers don't look good. But there's a reason. There's actually multiple reasons. I'll give you 5.

1) poop defensive players
2) Injured defensive players
3) Terrible defensive coaching, including a bad PK
4) A team that plays with no passion and no consistency
5) A GM who brings in more defensive liabilities than defensive stalwarts

Could nobody see this against Carolina? That one team, playing with a beer league goalie, played perfectly while the Leafs gave up damn near 50 shots?

The problem is some of you people are looking at ONE NUMBER and doing ZERO work to look beyond that number. Andersen has been consistently a top 10 goalie the past 5 years. He hasn't changed. The dog poop team in front of him has changed.

If Andersen is "the first to admit it" it's because he's being a professional. Do you really expect him to blame everybody else? But we can be objective and look at the facts if you choose not to ignore them.

Unbelievable how nobody can't explain why his numbers in 2020 are very close to Hutchinson's numbers, but still be completely convinced he is not part of the problem. He is every bit as much of the problem as anything else.

We had a chance to improve it today if we’re just using sv% etc and they didn’t. I’d bet a nut we could have traded Freddie and kept Lehner.
