I think thats a favour for him in hopes he resigns in montreal in july. Even if he doesn't, whats the big deal? They got a pick from a guy that wasn't even on the roster 2 months ago.

He basically just came out saying that there's no plan. They might make the playoffs, they might not, maybe they win the lottery but he doesn't control that.

Its still a dart throw. A low 2nd rd pick vs a low 3rd rd pick. I don't see that being a franchise changing move.

He clarified that. It was a sure 3rd round pick yesterday vs. maybe something better today but maybe not. He went with the sure bet plus he knew Kovalchuk wanted to go to Washington.

I don't think it's a big deal.

The bigger problem here is that he failed to take advantage of a seller's market for one of his prime players who I don't think has a future here. Maybe Bergevin doesn't think as me and thinks that Tatar is Montreal's future...

Another thing is that he said he wasn't interested in trading those players (Petry, Tatar) for picks. He wanted players in return, he probably wasn't offered what he wanted.
