More years and a higher cap hit. If the Isles weren't already going to have a number of probably-bad contracts on the books in a few years, I'd be all for it. This one's just a little too risky even for "go for it!" me
- UIF

It's a net increase of about $2M on the cap. My guess would be MIN would retain enough to make it an even-money transaction. Two years longer, yes, but Zach Parise is still a damn good NHL player, just one with a bad contract. Ladd is replacement level trash.

By them saying this is a 'complicated' deal, I wonder how much salary could Minny retain?. No idea how that even works these days.

If you have two bad deals and one good player better to have praise

You can retain up to 50%. If MIN retained about $2M, Parise's cap hit would be the same as Ladd's.

The real question is, for me...what do the Isles have to give up to get him? That's what's going to make this deal great or terrible.

I dunno. Wild are getting some benefit out that potential deal too. Maybe Aho? I can live with that.

Considering he is 35 and has 5 years left, I'm not sure how excited i am about this

He put up almost 30g and 61pts in 74gp last year. He's on pace for about the same goal total and 50ish points this year, so far. Playing on a bad wild team.

Lou doesn't have the assets to go get a prime young player, clearly. He's getting creative though.

You would have to think. Hope it isnโ€™t Wahlstrom god forbid Dobson. Maybe Bellows!

Staple said it could kill the deal now that it has leaked but would be amazing if we extended a guy and another waived to come here (2 with greene) maybe times really have changed

Yep! Parise can still play. This makes calling up Ladd make sense.

If Lameriello kills this because of his leaked BS aversion my head will explode.

Expansion draft, possibility Parise retires, possible LTIR (he's had back issues).

He's better than Ladd now though.

Forget where I saw it, but per the CBA they couldn't officially announce an extension for Pageau until March 7th
