What "hilaious" trade are you referring to?
- rob_one_six

Overpaid in the trade and then the contract. Just a horrible move.

So your answer is you have no idea and are pretending to find a "Joke" funny without understanding it?

It was a 3 team trade .. so he was essentially traded to the Leafs and then immediately moved to Vegas.
- niteislander

Is this true? I thought it was a deal from Chicago to Vegas and the Leafs weren’t involved.

Technically he was traded to the Leafs, who then retained a portion of his salary, and then traded from TOR to VGK. The Leafs essentially bought themselves a 5th round pick for a couple hundred thousand.

I think it's certainly possible that Brassard goes back to that line. They could also play Brassard with Pageau, since they spent a couple years in Ottawa together there may be some familiarity there. Although if I'm being honest, I have absolutely no idea if they played on the same line or were both playing center at that point.
- eichiefs9

I know they were in Ottawa together but don’t know if they played on the same line or the PP together either
I just thought that if we can get that Nelson line buzzing again with Barzals line going lately it would be a good thing.
I’m really excited about this team when Casey and Cal are back. There will be 4 solid lines to roll.

Gotcha, because on the trade board it just shows Chicago and Vegas.

Leafs really didn’t do much yesterday

Yeah it's going to spread the talent quite a bit and give a lot more purpose to either Bailey or Brassard, because whoever wasn't in the top six was just kind of oddly thrown out with two subpar linemates.

I know a lot of people don't like Dal Colle, but I happen to think he's pretty useful if you can push the fact that he was a 5th overall pick out of your mind. He is probably one of the hardest working forwards on the team and his forechecking can really cause havoc sometimes. I could fully get on board with a third line of MDC-Pageau-Bailey. There's enough talent there to score and enough defense to check other teams 2nd lines.

What will likely be a mid-late first and a second for a talented, versatile center in his prime, that fills an important need now is not an over payment. Nor is the contract, he surely would have gotten more had he gone UFA. Sounds like you are just bitter that Lou Lamoriello played NHL GM while Kyle Dubas played AHL GM with a bunch of rinky-dink trades for the Marlies. Sorry bout it.

Wow ok, that makes sense now. The irony is the leafs are the ones who could really have used him. His tweet was still remarkably hilarious. Love that dude.

Hey, mdw, can I get your thoughts on the opinion of "one executive"?

On Monday, Carolina added two pieces that are tough to add in a center and a young, top-four defenseman in Brady Skjei. And that wasn’t it.

“He’s a three or four,” said one executive of Skjei. “He’s big, mobile and can skate. I don’t think he’s lived up to expectations lately in New York though or maybe they just needed the cap space going forward.”

I can tell. I'll admit, I didn't know the panda reference to Robin Lehner but got it after a simple Google search. But I'm a rocket scientist and a brain surgeon, so that's probably the only reason I thought to Google it, lol

Hey.. look who came out of his hole. (so Isles overpaid again huh? solid read)

We have not seen Toronto trolls on our boards in a while. You guys ok? Heard you guys lost to a zamboni driver and had people throwing jerseys on the ice again.. maybe u should throw another parade.

good to see u though.. better not lose to Florida this week. I mean you can't right? they just sold at deadline and you guys have 3 $11 mill a year + players. No one can beat you!!

I agree about MDC, he’s not going to be that first line scorer he was drafted to be but he is turning into a good forechecking, grinding type forward. I wouldn’t mind that 3 rd line but something tells me that they are going to give Ladd an opportunity to play and I think it will be on that line instead of MDC and maybe they put MDC with MM and uncle Leo until Casey gets back. Don’t know what Trotz will do obviously however he has options and that’s good.
Love the Pageau trade and the extension.

I hope they don't shoehorn Ladd into the lineup just because they think they have to. Guy couldn't stay on his (frank)ing feet against the worst team in the league the other night and I don't have much faith that it's going to get much better.

Dubas would be destroyed for trading an entire draft and giving a 3rd liner who's having a career year in a contract year 6 years at 5 million per.

Dubas got destroyed for overpaying Nylander "Millions". HAHA

Skjei was good 3 years ago. Execs get enamored with his skating, but he is another Del Zotto tbh. Sucks we had high hopes for him. Most fans wanted to just unload that contract. Now we can resign Tony and Lemeuix. Even Strome if they want.

Gotta think Bailey is getting a maintenance day and maybe in there for MDC tonight. Either way we were pretty much on as far as the lines.

Yeah, I had been under the impression that Skjei was pretty good...but I haven't really watched the Rangers much over the last couple of seasons. MDW informed me otherwise yesterday.
