I can't see that happening as I'm not sure what they can offer the Leafs that require a D coming back unless there a D in the works from a different trade.

If they miss they need to be bottom 10 in order to not give up the pick this season.

if you look at the full standings, Buffalo is 10th with 66 points.

Although I will fearlessly predict Hutchinson will perform better out of the Toronto limelight.

For probably the first 3 years of that deal, he's potentially a $7.5 - $8m value based on UFA years and production expectations and standard player decline. Noting that we're all over the fact that the cap is expected to raise significantly in a few years with the upcoming TV deal . . .

In the waning years of that contract, his cap hit percentage may not be that bad.

Nylander's contract is a good contract. It's irrelevant to this conversation. Pastrnak's contract is way better than Nylander's. It doesn't mean that Nylander's isn't a good contract.

That doesn't mean that Krieder's contract isn't a good contract for what he brings.
