Bonus was a joke. Our owner could've afforded it. Organization was upset O'Reilly was moping around so they traded him. We obviously should've just paid the bonus oh well.. Just an interesting tweet.

I still hold that not paying him the bonus was a pride thing, not an "I can't afford it" thing.

Sabres have a ton of cap space. His hometown is Ottawa so Buffalo is not too far and making American dollars and less taxes.

Not really. The sabres got a first round pick, a center of comparable quality to Haula in Berglund, and a decent prospect in TT.

But it's fun to keep bringing it up.

Risto is good and teams want him. The cost will be high and if someone is willing to pay something close, that’s when we will hear about it.

Botts has made some good trades Skinner and Joker both were steals....

Its basically flipping a coin today.

That sums up the Sabres organization the last ten years... Pride has gotten in the way of smart hockey moves...

- Lost out on Richards, Pegula's pride decided he needed to make a splash and overpaid for Leino and Eherhoff
- Some mysterious disagreement with Sabres legend Lafontaine, Pegula's pride shunned him out of the Sabres existence.
- O'Rilley moped around and said he wasn't having fun, Pegula decided he didn't want to pay him the bonus.
- Botterill gets owned in the worst trade of the last decade - Botterill doesn't want to make a trade because he's scared

Berglund is not comparable to Haula at all... Sobotka is nothing close to anything we Flordia got either. And Thompson was their 5th or so best prospect.

Unless Ryan Johnson somehow turns into a superstar, that trade was a failure, and I say that as someone who was okay with O'Reilly going out the door.
