only guy moved today that I wanted was Nick Ritchie
- homiedclown

Why?
He’s a “power forward” without the “power” part of his game
I’ve always thought he was way overrated though

Decent moves
I can also understand why ppl wanted more

- jdfitz77

It was a pretty good day and Botterill did exactly what he could to move this in the right direction. Simmonds is one tough guy and still has some offence left in him. Kahun is young, has some good upside and could take a run at the 2c spot. It shows they aren’t giving up and you just never know what can happen. The only other move he could have made to satisfy the goalie bashers was to bring back Lehner.

This won’t happen but it’s the best chance we have at running the table:

Olofsson-Eichel-Simmonds
Skinner-Larsson-Reinhart
Kahun-Mojo-Vesey
Girgs-Lazar-Okposo

- Pegullaville

I wouldn't mess with the log line.
Doubt they move sam down a line

Those lines look pretty good. I would try Kahun a little at Center though

To get scoring out of at least 3 lines and maybe 4 those would work.

I like the deadline for the sabres. Could have wanted more but would have been completely disheartened with less. Botterill is still setting up for his major roster overhaul to be this offseason while giving the locker room a little boost.

If simmonds can play at all still, he brings things this team sorely lacks

Shedding more cap by sending out two UFAs and bringing in a cost controlled player beyond this year is exactly the type of move I wanted to see

Continue to get goaltending and lets make this run. I want march to be exciting. If they fall off and slide or plane out, so be it. Tanking is all but over with

Kahun was nice pick up for the Sabres. Good speed. Competes every shift. Pretty sound defensively. Should be a solid ~40 point guy. More of a playmaker than shooter.

Seems to be best suited for the wing in the NHL but can take some FOs.

Well i guess that means we will have a shot at Hoffman &/or Dadonov then...
2 RWs that score 30ish goals

- jdfitz77

I think Josh Anderson and Marchessault are more likely, and I'd be good with both of them.

I mean, so was Panarin? The draft status really means nothing. See Bogosian, Zach.

I dont think Kahun is some star, but a better cost effective option moving forward. Way better get than some 3rd round pick. Credit where its due for Botts

- Michael Ghofrani

Was out all day, didn't follow the TDL doings, backreading now.

I get the sentiment, but do we know this to be true?
I'd venture to say, without looking it up, that undrafted players have a lower chance of sticking than say 3rd round picks, so maybe they could have drafted a better player.
Not a hill I'm willing to die on though, so moving along.

The best part if that deal was unloading $5m in Cap hits.
If Kahun is a 3LW, then do the Sabres need to resign Vesey and Girgs?...saves another $3m+ for next season.
Now, if they do resign Vesey and Girgs, one has to ask why.

Seems like the Panthers didn't want to trade Trocheck in division according to Chad D

This is a real thing in the NHL but it’s dumb.

If you don’t want to trade in the division you shouldn’t want to trade at all. If it’s a bad deal in division, you shouldn’t take a lesser deal elsewhere

They got a player under team control beyond this season to help now. A player whos been sticking for 2 seasons now

On what planet is that worse than waiting 3 years to see if your 3rd round pick has a chance to amount to anything, then waiting another 2 years to see it through

With that rationale it makes even less sense to trade with the team you are directly competing for a playoff spot with

To back up Mr. Moulson:

I’m still trying to get a hold of everything after a wild day. After some conversations tonight, I’m not one to defend Botterill, but it sounds like they made a valid offer for Trocheck & thought their offer was better that the Hurricanes. Tallon decided to go elsewhere.

That’s the way it goes sometimes but they were in on him until the end and just didn’t get picked to go to the dance on that one

What happened with Anderson?

Couldn’t get an agreement in place

Was Risto involved in either deal or can you not say?

I’ll just say he was involved in various discussions throughout the day and leading up to today
