would love Cozens to be 2nd C next year, but that doesn’t mean we can just assume thy will work and not have a backup plan.

i think this year showed that.

i would love for him to outplay and earn the spot over the other guy we pick up to take that position who is actually a natural 2C quality player on a playoff team

touche..... but i think hes worth a look imo

Like fill in the blank d man that we have a million of i think is worth it

I get he didnt play well for the ducks but their top 6 rw are Rakell and Silfverburg ?

- hubie

I’ll put it this way...
The Ducks just traded Ritchie & Kase
If Sprong can’t find his way to get called up now,
then i think you probably know all u need to know

I think he’s a bottom6 guy at best
Even his AHL stats have regressed from 2yrs ago till now
Maybe he still becomes something...
but I’m sure not gonna get up in arms that Botts didn’t trade for him today

Can't believe you guys are conversing while Botts is speaking.
- PrinceChill

Seriously, its hard to believe that Botts didn't give that presser from a packed stadium in India.

If there was any doubt that Botts is our guy next year that doubt is gone.

I like his work today.

I think the positivity bleeds into the room and gives the kids the vote of confidence they need - whether they can move up enough to get in this year the effort to get there will be as important in the long term as the results.

I feel like people on this board are desperate for new players with some sort of a name, but how much better is Trocheck than Kahun?

in 55 games, he is 10G 27A, -3

Kahun in 50 games is 10G 17A, +6

Trocheck plays almost 17 minutes a night this year, and even more last year. Kahun plays almost 3.5 minutes less. Trochek plays 1:57 a night on the power play and Kahun 1:09. Trocheck has a higher number of OZ starts. Their corsi is very close.

Trocheck is making 4.75 for two more years while Kahun is making 925k, and should come in at less than half Trocheck's cost after arbitration. Kahun is two years younger and could still improve considerably.

I'm not giving Botts a pass. I am saying I am glad he made an actual decent hockey move, and didn't waste cap space on Trocheck.

I would love Cozens to be that 2C we need him to be as well, but they do need to have a solid backup plan
- Stripes77

As it stands, guys who could potentially play 2C for us next year...

Cozens
Mitts
Kahun
MoJo

I guess Cozens is the guy guy most would slot in there at the moment
But i understand wanting someone we know can be decent (at least) in that spot

Big question is...
-do we go after a legit 2C (if available), and give up the major assets it would take to get him?
OR
-do we look for a good placeholder while we wait for Cozens to develop?

Cozens just as easily be a 50point 2C next year as he could struggle

I like Pageau and at 5m its a steal. People need to look around. 2nd and 3rd line players aren't getting 60-80 points anymore.

Just let it go, you won't win. After Kreider, just wait to see what Reinhart gets.

Top10 picks develop into good players ALL THE TIME

What are u talking about?

Dude...
U like top6 Center who produces less than 3rd line Bonino
Who is apparently trash,
but you’d be for getting their 4C who hasn’t been good in years (Turris) and costs $6mil

I appreciate all the info u give us
But I’m baffled by a lot of your opinions with what we should do at the Center position

Cozens is gonna be a good player
Mitts still could as well
Both very, very talented guys

As you always say, opinions vary

Overall I think we got better today

Simmonds has 24 points ...... upgrade over frolik at 2nd line RW
Kahun ..... sheary replacement has 27 points over 19 sheary points

He bought without selling the farm like Tim Murray did

Not at center

I feel like Trocheck could’ve been had
Maybe Homie or 89 will hear if we were in on him at all?
Or maybe Botts just doesn’t think he’s the stud from 3years ago anymore?
